Shopper : Does this scanner work with Mac OS 10.10.5?ALBRECHT, S : It should. Check Epson. Com to see if they have a driver. If so, you are good to go.ESAD K : I've only used it with Windows, but I'm sure it should be compatible with it. I would suggest looking up the specs.
leslie m : does this work with windows 10? you dont have an answer listed!!!!!!GEOFF M : Yes. I am using this scanner with Windows 10. It's fine.ANDREW R : Per the tech specs (as provided by the manufacturer): Windows Requirements Windows Intel Pentium II 450 MHz with 128MB of RAM (512MB of RAM for XP Professional x64 and Windows Vista) and 215MB of free hard drive space. Additional Windows Requirements: Microsoft) Windows 2000 Professional, XP Home Edition, XP Professional, XP Professional x64, Windows Vista (USB 2.0 Host Driver by Microsoft is required) Macintosh Requirements Macintosh PowerPC G3 400 MHz or Intel-based CPU with 128MB RAM or higher and 200MB of free hard drive space. Additional Macintosh Requirements: Macintosh OS X 10.3.x - 10.5.x. Other OS compatibility has not been explicitly indicated by the manufacturer.TIMOTHY H : Installed under Windows 7 then l upgraded to Windows 10. I have not tried installing under Windows 10.
Shopper : DOES THIS SCANNER SCAN FRONT AND BACK?GEOFF M : Yes, with some fiddling, but not automatically. For a double sided scan, you scan the front sides, then scan the back sides (by flipping over the stack of paper) and then use the Epson software to shuffle the pages into the correct order (a couple of button clicks). Given how expensive a real double sided unit costs, whether this is worth your while will depend on how often you need this feature.JOHN C : This scanner does not scan both sides in a single pass. The software will prompt the user to scan all of the page fronts in one pass and then flip the stack over to scan all of the page backs. The software will then collate the scans into one file consisting of both fronts and backs in order, but the scanner itself only scans one side in one pass.MATTHEW M : No. However, from the manual in the "double-sided scanning" section, "You can scan a 2-sided document using the ADF. First you scan the odd-numbered pages, then you turn the document over and scan the even-numbered pages. Then you can use the Editing Page window to automatically sort the pages."THOMAS B : Not to my knowledge.ROBIN M : Not automatically. The user must flip the pages manually in order to scan both sides.JOSHUA K : Not simultaneously. Using the ADF, you can scan the fronts of all sheets in a continuous stream, and then flip the pile to scan all of the backs. Software like Acrobat automatically sorts the scans into the appropriate page order.BRADLEY R : The top feeder does scan front and back. I only use mine for single sided so i only used the top feeding tray a few times. fyi I have done over 10,000 scans with my scanner and it works like a champ it is quick too.

Awful experience

About a year after purchasing it, with very light use, the feeder stopped working. It chews up the document as it tries unsuccessfully to feed it. Waste of money.

Excellent product, can't tell it is refurbished

This is a great value for a flatbed scanner with a sheet feeder. I use this in a home office and the sheet feeder is great for regular documents but the flatbed is indispensable for odd or delicate jobs (like photographs, receipts on their own or taped to a page). The software that comes with the scanner is pretty good but the PDF files that are generated sometimes give errors in Adobe Acrobat (they are still readable). To scan double sided documents, scan the pile face up, then flip the pile over and scan the other sides of the pages. After you finish the back sides, click on the "Edit" button in the Epson software. One of the buttons on the Edit page will shuffle the pages to put them into double sided order. Hover you mouse over the different buttons to see what each one does. Then save the final image file. I agree with everyone else that says the sheet feeder is a pain in the bupkis. You have to feed the first page in just so in order for the two switches to active properly for a sheet feed job. You know when you have failed when the flatbed starts whining away. Then you have to wait for the page to stop scanning, delete the blank page and try again. Still, it's really hard to find another scanner with these capabilities, especially at this price point. Scanners are expensive for some reason. If Adorama has any refurbished Epson units, I would highly recommend them. They come in a brown cardboard box instead of a slick retail box but other than that, they seem perfectly fine.

Excellent Scanner for the Price

This is our 3rd Epson GT-1500 in our office. It is fast and have had no problems with them for over a year now.

A little slow and no duplex

I'm replacing a GT-S50, so it's probably not a fair comparison. The GT-1500 is slow and I do miss the duplexing. However it is better than any all-in-one printer/copier/scanner I've seen and certainly an improvement over flatbed scanners. Overall, the software is easy to use, the sheets scan easily and the optional flatbed is perfect for odd-sized items. For the price I'm very happy with my purchase. My primary use is for personal items in order to maintain a paperless world at home.

Umm Not great

This is an OK unit. The OCR software sucks bad. Waaaaaay too slow. It is a klunky means of making a searchable PDF. Plus the Epson website shows how to use the OCR setup as if it was in the Epson main scanner program. yeah....it's not...lol Overall I am not impressed by this unit. I have a small scanner at the office that tears through documents at an awesome rate and the software does the OCR on the fly! I just can't remember which it is. I may keep using it. Just not have it scan for OCR and wait to buy a better scanner program. [...]
