If you wear glasses and your camera viewfinder does not have a built in diopter adjustment, you need an add-on correction lens like this one. The housing may be square and slide on, or round and screw in like this one, but they do the same thing as your eyeglasses. Your eye doctor should be able to tell you whether you need a + or - diopter adjustment and how strong. When you put it on the viewfinder you should be able to see the frame and/or indicators in the viewfinder at their sharpest. What you are bringing into focus is the focal plane of the viewfinder, not the scene in the background. That will become clear when you properly focus the SLR lens.

This 19mm corrective lens fits the new Fuji viewfinder equipped cameras as well as some Nikon F-series and Leica rangefinders, at a fraction of the cost of their diopters. It is such a relief to be able to use my Fuji X-Pro 1 camera without glasses.
