Even though it's not the fastest card around, for a D700 taking non-action shots, it's just fine.

As long as you understand when you purchase that it is not a high speed card it is a great value and dependable. Would buy again.

I went on vacation and took this card as my primary media on a 50D Canon DSLR. It work great, day and night. I really love the writing speed, better than my backup card. For a day of shooting, as much as I shoot, the Lexar *G gave me good performance. I downloaded my pictures every night in less than 10 minutues

This is an incredible deal on an 8GB CF memory card made by Lexar. I should have bought more than the two that I ordered. They are not the fastest cards out there, but what do you expect for the super low price? I bought them to use for personal use and thought I might also try them on a shoot using them on something slow, say a product shoot assignment, nothing requiring lightning speeds. I used them on my Nikon D300 and D700, and they have operated perfectly and without much delay at all under the conditions that I am using them. The cameras are fast and they record quickly on these cards. I would not expect anyone to use them for a Wedding shoot or Sporting Event where speed is critical, but for a shoot that is slow paced, or perhaps portraits of adults (kids require the max out of your equipment), then these cards are fantastic. With a transfer rate of 80x they are not turtles either. Just do not expect the performance of a 300x card that would cost you $100 or more and you will be happy with these cards. Also be smart. You do not take an elephant gun when you go hunting for rabbit, and you don't go to a gun fight with a knife. Know what you need in your camera for the assignment before you put any card in it and you should be fine, especially with a quality manufacturer's product. You can not beat the price for this size card and to top it off they are from LEXAR, one of the world's highest quality memory card manufacturers. These are 8GB LEXAR Platinum II 80x CF Cards. Need I say more?

This is a perfect compliment to my existing memory cards, for use in all day studio shoots, where Max Speed ie continuous shots dont come into play as often. That said, this is an inexpensive larg(er) capacity card that keeps me focused on the shoot rather than how many shoots till the cards full.

Have always been a fan of Lexar cards. Was surprised to discover that these did NOT come with the little hard plastic protective case.

Faster than some of my other CFs, not as fast as my fastest. I couldn't resist the 8GB capacity and sale price [...]

• Lexar's Platinum II memory cards provide photographers with performance levels capable of sustained rapid-fire shooting and full motion video, two of the most popular and sought after features in digital cameras. The Platinum II CompactFlash memory card is speed-rated at 80X, capable of a minimum sustained write speed of 12mb per second.
• With Platinum II, consumers can confidently choose from a practical line of memory cards that will allow them to take advantage of the advanced features in their digital camera.
• A minimum sustained speed-rating is a measurement of how quickly content can be written to the card. By speed-rating Lexars Platinum II line of cards - and performance testing each before they ship - Lexar is providing a higher level of confidence to the consumer during the flash memory buying process.
• Rapid-fire shooting and video capture are two features that continue to move up the consumer photography priority list. High-speed cards, including those within Lexar's Platinum II line, are ideal for in-camera applications that require the user to write captured information to his or her card without interruption.
• Lexar CompactFlash cards are individually speed-rated so you know the minimum sustained write speed capability of the card. We use the same rating system used by the CD-Rom industry, where data transfers at a rate of 1X equals 150 kilobytes (KB) per second. And the higher the speed rating, the faster your camera can write images to the memory card.
