What were they thinking when they developed this? The charge barely lasts for a few hours, and now, just one year after we purchased it, the battery is COMPLETELY dead. No charge whatsoever. VERY disappointing and will definitely have an impact on my next camera purchase, which will be within the next month, because I REFUSE to buy another cruddy battery for $50!!! RIPOFF

I've had one Sony Cyber-Shot other than my DSC-T700 and I loved it. I love this camera as well but the battery life on it is TERRIBLE. I constantly have to charge it just to last one day. And I have to carry my charger with me wherever I go just in case the battery dies on me. I never had this problem with my other one before. I agree with some of the other reviews where this battery should be recalled or something. It makes me think that my purchase just WASN'T worth it.

I received this camera as a git, and I noticed about 2 weeks after receiving it the battery always died very quickly. I missed so many special moments because the camera would die just within 30 min after I charged it. Now it comes to a time where I need to take my camera on a 2-3 month trip and I am squirming because I need about 6 batteries to last me for a few days. How did this happen??

I have 3 other Sony electronics products but this one is making me rethink my next purchase. I'll likely buy an aftermarket battery rather than dropping $50.00 on the Sony model.

Needs a powered docking station or something, I went to download my pictures after only using the camera, maybe 30 minutes total, and the battery dies! Can not even plug it into a AC power source to complete my download, now I have to sit here and twiddle my thumbs for 2 hours while this stupid thing charges. What gives, SONY? the description says that this battery has a long life, did you make a bad batch or something? I THINK IT MAY BE TIME FOR ANOTHER BATTERY RE-CALL BECAUSE THIS IS RIDICULOUS.

I've read the reviews and TOTALLY concur; this battery has to be a gag gift with the camera. You definately will need an extra battery to get through a day of continuous shots OR just be very selective with taking your photos.

It doesn’t last long. It’s so frustrating. I’m constantly running out of power with this battery. I can’t believe Sony made such a nice camera like my Cyber Shot w/ such an awful battery. Seriously this battery should be recalled.

The battery doesn't hold charge for long, but it takes at least 2 hours to fully charge! You may need 2 spares to get through a one-day event. Unfortunately, we have no other choice but to use this particular battery.

you cannot take more than 25-30 pictures and the battery is dead. i have an older sony camera and i can take 80-85 pictures before the battery dies.

Small and lightweight, the Sony NP-FD1 D-Series Info-Lithium Battery can be charged or discharged at anytime without developing a memory effect. This means it will never lose the ability to hold a full charge. It also provides info to the camera, displaying remaining battery time on the camera's LCD and/or viewfinder. It does this via a built-in micro processor which accurately calculates remaining battery life in minutes and continuously communicates this information to the camera.
