Out of the box, great finish & feel. Not too heavy. They focus smoothly and sharply. I really like them. I haven't taken them outside in any weather yet, so I can't comment on that. A couple of cons: The protective cover for the eyepieces comes off really easily, and is not attached to anything, so could come off in a pack, or you could drop it pretty easily in the field. Also, there's some chromatic aberration around white lettering that can make it difficult to read at far distances. The 12x makes them a little shaky hand-held, but that's not a product flaw, just a comment on choosing a high magnification. Overall for the price, I'm really happy with them.

I am a biologist and an avid hunter so I use binoculars often professionally and in my sporting life. Since I am a biologist I do not make much money though I need to be able to identify birds and make calls on species identification. That is difficult at times when dealing with bird species that are very similar. so I need to find the deals where I can find them on good glass. These are great binoculars for my every day use. Some day maybe i will be able to afford some BX-5 Santiam's but until then I am very happy with these binoculars.

I already had a pair of Leupold 10x50's, which are a great binocular unto themselves. this time I wanted a second, more compact pair but did not want to sacrifice a 5mm exit pupil for low light conditions. I purchased these BX-2 Alpine BX-2 8x42 as soon as they were available, and they did not disappoint. Glass clarity in this price range makes eye fatigue a non-issue, and the large exit pupil makes these useable at the beginning and end of legal shooting hours. Top notch for the buck.

These binos are perfect for a guy like me that has budget limits and needs a piece of gear that brings a lot od value to the table and doesn't break the bank. This is the working mans bino and has enough great features and real world performance to make those days of glassing easier on us. Nothing is perfect and that's the only reason I didn't leave 5*. Buy with confidence!

I recently purchased the for whitetail deer hunts in Tennessee. I wanted 1) compact, 2) light weight, 3) durable chassis, 4) 8x magnification, 6) exceptional glass 5) a wide field of view, all for about $250. The bx-2 Alpines check all of the boxes. I looked at vortex, bushnell, Athlon, vanguard, etc., but these provided the best value by far. Image quality at dusk and in high contrast situations is superb. With a young family and limited financial resources, I am very careful with how I allocate my discretionary income. I would absolutely recommend these to anyone who wants premier quality glass at a fair price. If I had to nitpick, the focus knob is smooth and effortless to operate, but is not fluid. A fluid resistance would provide a high-end "feel" to these binoculars. If Leupold keeps making high quality optics (Like this one) that cater to the value-oriented consumer, I could certainly see them recover some ground from some of their upstart competitors. #sweepstakes

I have three 10x42 binoculars, a slew of pocket-sized mini scopes, including Leupolds of course, and now added the new 12x52 Alpine. We spend hours glassing miles of terrain and hike considerable distances during hunting season. They provide an extra edge I need when looking for the slight movement of an animal a mile or more away. My favorite hunting scope is also by Leupold. My wife and I bird watch and find the extra power helps when trying to identify small songbirds, hummingbirds, or hawks. We keep one or more binoculars stashed in all our vehicles and at the kitchen window. Here in Idaho, there is always something to see. I also appreciate the lifetime guarantee.

I have a pair of BX-2 Cascades 10x42 and love them. These BX-2 Alpines 10x42 are just what I was looking for as an addition to my optics. Excellent clarity and ease of use. Will be using these primarily for hunting and pre-season scouting. The cascades are used for kayaking and wildlife/bird spotting.

I just received a pair of these as a replacement due to warranty issues on a 20 year old pair and I'm very impressed actually amazed, they are better (way better) then another set I bought 2 years ago that are a couple models above this one.

I am a whitetail guide in Kansas. My binoculars get used very much before and during the hunting seasons. I sent in an old model that had served me well for repair. Leupold returned a new pair of BX-2 Alpines. The difference in clarity and light gathering is amazing. They will get used very hard this season. Several more pairs will be purchased for the lodge.

Great high quality optic and durable construction. Purchased the BX-2 Alpines to replace a pair of Monarchs. Both are good products but I prefer the BX-2 Alpine's quality feel and outstanding warranty.

Great product especially for the price. I purchased these to replace a pair of Nikon Monarch's and am very happy that I did. The Clarity and field of view are better than my others as well as they are made to a very high quality standard.

My son alerted these binos when he asked me to purchase them for him for his birthday. Awesome! They are absolutely amazing. The clarity is unreal to say the least. I have used 10x40's and 10x50's in the past (another brand name) This 10x52 is better than both. The bino seems to be built to last for many years of hunting....Thank you Leupold!

These binoculars are great for the hunter on a budget but can afford to spend a little more than a base model price. These are well rounded with its features and capabilities. I get great field of view, and light transmission is awesome for an affordable piece of glass. They are relatively lightweight with the magnesium housing, and extremely durable with the rubber coat that also aids in the grip you get while holding them even when they get wet. I can't say enough good things about them.

Some consider a good set of 10x52 binoculars the sweet spot. Enough magnification for clear identification but still compact enough to take everywhere.
