A little too easy to dismount

I try to use this hood whenever shooting in direct sunlight or glary night environment. Otherwise, I don't routinely use it because, on my EF-S 18-55mm IS lens, it attaches to the focusing ring a bit too loosely; consequently, when I manually focus, the hood frequently releases from the lens. When not in use, I stuff it into a small pocket of my camera bag without fear of its breaking, because it's very sturdy despite its light weight. Its affordability outweighs its one "con."

A little on the thin side....

I find the construction to be a bit thin but it does the job and for the price I can't really complain too much. If you take care of your equipment like I do you will never have a problem with it

Good Accessory For Your Lens

I often use lens hoods when shooting outdoors, especially in harsh sunlight. This one fit my 18-55 lens perfectly!

Great Deal!

For the price you can't beat it! The lens hood is made out of plastic, but compared to the Canon OEM lens hood you can replace it for cheap money!

Great buy

For only [$], you can't go wrong with this. I've used this on my 18-55 XT kit lens for landscape shots and I no longer have the problem of too much contrast from the side. It's easy to attach and can be reversed on the lens for better packing in your bag.

Must Have

Must have to protect your lens. Great addition to anyone's photography bag. Protects the front of your lens & keeps any unwanted light/sunlight away.

Value product

Fits snugly for my Cannon efs 18-55 lens and does the job well. Good quality even though it was inexpensive and I'm glad that I found this product.

Not the best fit

Doesn't fit my Canon 18-55IS very well. Just barley fits into the groves. I'm afraid it will fall off especially if I bump into something...maybe a bad copy. [...]

Brand name isn't always best

The hood locks on thigt in both positions. Seems to be made solid and it basically serves it purpose.

Works Well

A lens shade pretty much either works or does not. This one is light and works well.

Inexpensive, fits well & does the job!

Overall is good. Protects the lens, helps prevent some flaring from sunlight -- though is quite shallow for wide angle use.

Works well

Build quality matches canon brand in side by side comparison. slight spaces in grooves when fully connected.

Excellent alternative to the Canon hood.

I bought this lens hood for my EF-S 18-55 IS. It fits perfectly. Since the 18-55 is a wide lens the hood is short, but this is fine because I bought it mostly for protecting the front element in case it was set down on something.

Gets the job done

This lens hood works well, but it makes it very difficult to install and remove the lens cover. I find myself accidentally touching the lens when this shade is on. This is actually more an issue with the lens and cover design than with the lens hood. However, the combination is a bit of a problem.

About Adorama Lens Hood for Canon EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6

One of the most important accessories for each lens you own. A lens hood provides multiple functions: it shades the lens from stray light, improving your contrast and image quality; in inclement weather, it can assist in keeping moisture or wind-blown debris off the lens; and it protects the front barrel from the inevitable impacts against walls, door frames, and other real-life obstacles.
