it is sharp and has no problems acquiring focus on my D600!
I purchased this lens, refurbished by Nikon, and saved a couple of hundred dollars over a brand new one. I added the VIP extended warranty for a one year warranty. The lens arrived quickly and is in PERFECT condition. You would never know that this lens is refurbished by looking at it/using it!!! I am extremely pleased with my purchase. I've used the lens twice already for indoor/low-light photos at my daughter's piano recital, and it is sharp and has no problems acquiring focus on my D600!

Razor sharp like the bigger 300/2.8
This is a near perfect piece of glass. The focus is a bit sluggish with a 14TC but image quality is still stellar.

It was everything I expected and more
I have been following the blogs on this lens for quite awhile and they all
pointed out that this was a very good lens with the exception of the tripod collar.I purchased a colar from Kirk ..problem solved. While I wish I could afford the 2.8 version with vibration control I can at least have the next best
without sacrificing too much in regards to image quality.
