It's a good idea to keep a clear filter on the front of your lens. Why? 1. helps keep airborne particles from getting on your lens. 2. when going from cool to warm and humid environments, you have an extra barrier from moisture getting into the lens. I also try to keep the lens hood on too, b/c it helps protect the lens when i drop it. I like having a circular polarizer handy. Great for making that blue sky contrast with the clouds. Also great for removing the glare on water to reveal those fish or other wild life under water. These two filters are a must-have for any lens and outdoor shooting - especially landscapes.
