Odin - The New Standard for Triggers!!!!

I agonized over buying a better trigger to replace my Cactus V4's. Many of my photo friends said go Pocket Wizard. I got a chance to see the Phottix Odin in action at a photo seminar. Wow - full control for both TTL and manual. Able to handle 3 triggers on one group. Exposure compensation for TTL. To get a comparable PW setup it would have cost another $250 - about $650. For under $400 I can control my 2 Nikon flashes fully. Going from TTL to manual is a since. The Odin is so easy to use and intuitive. I purchased an open box from Adorama and they were like new. Even the batteries were still hermetically sealed!!! I am still learning speed lights and the Phottix Odin is taking my work to a new level. Battery life seems great. I use them for portraits, weddings, product and creative shots. My SB 700 and 900 lock solidly onto the triggers. I haven't tested the range, but I have no doubt they live up to their claim. If there is one drawback to them is that it can be a bit slow to change settings. If you want to adjust exposure compensation in TTL or adjust power in manual you have to go into the menu. I guess PW with AC2 it would be quicker, but with the ODIN I can have some speed light's on TTL and others on manual. I can change which one is which from the transmitter on my camera. It's so easy. Just put the Nikon flash on TTL and you have full TTL or manual control. I still need to test these on a 3rd party flash to see how they function. I've used them for portraits, weddings and some creative product shots. I hear they may not be as universal with strobes as PW's, but when they work so great - who cares!!! If you are on the fence - jump over and off and gett'm. You will not be disappointed.

Perfect triggers

I am very pleased with the Phottix Odin Wireless Triggers. I am using them with 2 SB-900 Speedlights and have not encountered any problems, at two weddings, a portrait session and an outdoor engagement shoot. Used them with umbrellas and soft boxes Some time soon I will purchase another Speedlight an another Odin receiver. Yes I would and have recommended the Phottix triggers to friends.

Greatest Thing Since Canned Beer

Phottix has managed to get right the things Pocket Wizard never quite could. The transmitter, which Odin calls a TCU is almost identical functionally to the Nikon SU-800, a unit with which any serious Nikon shooter is familiar. The triggers are simple enough that you don't need instructions to set them up. The trigger goes on the shoe mount and the flash goes on the trigger. Unlike the case with Pocket Wizard, it doesn't matter in what order you turn things on. Phottix advertises an effective range of 100meters, but I've tested triggering distance up to the length of a city block. No problem. Of course this was line-of-sight, so obstacles might have made a difference. In any case, I've never yet had a triggering failure. Both units take standard AA batteries, the same batteries we use in our speedlights. Bottom line, the Phottix Odin is a winner, and the price is right.

Easy to use and reliable

I have been shooting with wireless strobes since my Nikon D70 was new! The Nikon Creative Lighting System with their infrared trigger is great, but it is just too limiting in many conditions. After researching a myriad of wireless flash systems I decided to go with the Phottix Odin TTL Flash Trigger. I still have all the great features I have grown to love with the Nikon Creative Lighting System; but now my strobes go off all the time – every time, no matter how far I am away from them or what is in between me and the flash, they just work! The Phottix Odin TTL Flash Trigger is easy to use and reliable, what more could you ask for?

Awesome

These are awesome! I love the manual control including the zoom level for the speed lights right from the control unit. Now if they would just up the number of groups from the Nikon default of 3 to at least 5 I could see myself going Joe McNally and using speed lights almost exclusively considering the new soft boxes like Apollo and the choice of multi speed light brackets available.

Odin for Nikon

Just received these from Adorama, plugged in some batteries, turned everything on ( make sure you set up the same channels on everything ) and found that they work flawlessly! Remember that you'll need to set up high speed sync on the camera. I knocked off a few test frames at 1/2000th of a second…. these really are everything the reviewers are saying, now I'm off to test out some working distances!

Phottix Odin TTL Flash Trigger for Nikon

I had some cheap ones from CB studios. Worked half the time. The other half I wanted to throw them out the window on I-90. These. Well they are a whole different game! Never missed. Once! And if they did. It was my flash over heating OR batteries in the flash unit its-self! I would say a BUY on these!

Best think I ever bought

This unit makes all my flash trigger like a breeze, I control all my flash from the unit over my camera, no need to go in camera or flash complicated menu. All you do is turn flash on put it over the receiver that is it. it fires all the time without a problem, it also work for triggering my studio lights, I even also used it in combination with strobe and speedlight and all fired very well. I love this item if you use more then 1 flash you will love this item. I wish I would have bought it before.
