I love being able to sit back and control my camera remotely. I?d give 5 stars except the functionality is limited when trying to control some features. This may be user error on my part, but I?ve found it difficult to change aperture, shutter speed, and ISO on the fly with the remote. It?s been much easier to use my phone or tethered computer with my a7iii. Otherwise, this is an awesome remote and hopefully I can learn more functions with it going into the future!

Excellent accessory

I needed a remote control for the Sony A7iii camera for long exposer pictures and I came across this remote. Just make sure to turn on the IR Camera remote setting to "ON". By default, it is turned off. Go to the Settings tool box / page 3 / IR Remote control. If it does not work, simply remove the camera battery and then turn back on and it should work. You can point the remote to the front or back of the camera to make it work. Hope this helps !

Great budget remote for Sony A7iii

it works but make sure you know the limits of what you camera + lens combo can do. E.g. it'll control zoom, but in my case only digital zoom not optical zoom

Nice remote

It works fine, though it is a bit fiddly. A cable remote is definitely a better option with much more control, but if you need to trigger the shutter from a longer distance, or if you are using the micro-usb port for another use, this remains a good option. Also turns out Sony has a camera app that is fairly easy to set up and works pretty well and allows more control, but again if the goal is to keep it simple, this remote does work.

I have not yet used it, but I am sure it will much better than setting the timer on the camera.  It is smaller than I expected and it fits easily in my, so that I can always have it available when I want to use it.  I trust the Sony brand and know it will work great with my Sony a6000 camera.

Excellent buy

I really like the simplicity and function of this remote. However I wish it could work from a lot farther, and it seems that the sensor from the front of the camera needs to be perfectly aligned in order for the remote actions to register. Also there is a problem if your lens is on the larger side, then you really have to be in an ideal spot to let the remote register. Finally the distance, if I only had another 5 to 10ft then I would love this product.

Great remote, does exactly what you expect it to. Works great on shoots and for navigating menus when displaying on a monitor.

The only problem is I drained the battery when I left it in the bottom of my bag and it kept getting the buttons pushed every time anything in the bag shifted. So now it stays in a pocket of it's own. If I had a 3D printer I'd print my own cover to prevent this issue.

Easy to use and reliable

Works right off the bat with no problems with Sony A series camera..  Use mainly for long exposure photography.  Has the 2 seconds delay or the quick shutter.

Love it!

I'm using this on my a6000. First of all, the battery replacement on my copy has been impossible without ruining the lid. Secondly, there are so many unnecessary buttons that won't work on mirrorless anyways. There should just be a simple shutter on and off, with maybe a timer. I hope they make a new one. Also, it works about half of the time, even when pointed at the camera.

The Sony remote is a very handy gadget as my Sony A 7II does not have a traditional cable release. Heartily recommended!
