A handy and sometimes necessary item

By LensEffects

Cinefoil is heavy duty aluminum foil used primarily to block light. This particular roll is black on both sides of the foil, is very durable and can be used over and over with proper care and handling. After use, carefully roll up the foil and you can use it again. A couple of use examples: - used as a gobo on a remote camera mounted to a basketball backboard to block reflected light. - used as a flag on a stobe or flash to prevent light from spilling into an unwanted area.

Cinefoil is one of those products that is a must have in any Photography/Video production environment. It has so many purposes. It is matte black so it will not cause reflections, light weight, moldable, very durable and can stand up to the hottest lights. I use regularly to create a snoot at the end of a broad light or a make shift barn doors on light that don't have that option. Matte Black Cinefoil is a matte black aluminum material that virtually soaks up light. Ideal for masking light leaks and/or eliminating unwanted reflections. It can be quickly molded to form barndoors, flags and other configurations. Lightweight, yet durable, Cinefoil can be quickly positioned in place with tape, staples or adhesives.

12" and 24" rolls are packaged in a handy dispenser box: 48" roll is packaged in a reusable sleeve.

Shopper  Can you give me tech specs on the cinefoil? What temperature can it with stand? Thickness? Etc.? Thanks, Louis
MICHELLE W  I'm not sure! I used it to block light in my window and made a camera obscura! It's a little thinker than foil.
DOUGLAS V  There is not a lot of info on the package. It is .002 inches thick (50 microns). It's made of aluminum, so it should withstand fairly high temperature. I have never burned or melted it, but I use relatively low wattage lights and strobes for still photography. I typically roll sheets to make snoots and reuse the foil many times before replacing it. It's 24" wide by 25' long.
MARGARET R  I bought it to make solar panels with. I haven't gotten to it yet, but my husband used it in the garden to keep the lettuce from freezing and it worked pretty well. I can't give you exact specs--Hope this helps.
MATTHEW C  This is some pretty cheap foil, its very thin and I have had it melt while in place on my halogen 600w bulbs.
