I was please to find this is could be used w/ nikons and canons. It is very helpful to be able to adjust lighting from the transmitter, rather than having to go to each of the light stands

You can use them indoors or outdoors. I use them at weddings and portrait sessions with both Nikon Speedlights (800s and 900s) and Quantum Trios. I have found the JrX transmitters very reliable and use them with the RP cubes when I am on location. The catch with the JR is that you have to manually control the power output by changing it on the Speedlight or Quantum (both set in manual mode), however you are able to trigger the lights if line of sight is not an option. That does mean if you are far away you may spend some time walking to change stops of light for the correct exposure. You will want to confirm which light systems on RadioPoppers website will allow you to use the dials to change the lighting output. They are basically great triggers when line of sight doesn't work. I have used them on speedlights, Quantums and studio lights at the same time on an outdoor shoot and and the JrX worked well and fired all 3 types of lights consistently together. I also bought the PX system so that I would be able at weddings to change the power output on my (900s) from a distance and not walk back and forth... when line of sight was not an option (set lights up across the dance floor etc.) I found the PX system not very reliable and thought I had a bad set. I sent them back to RadioPopper to see if there was something wrong. Customer service was great and even replaced the PX transmitter however, when they returned from RaddioPopper they were the same... just as unreliable, so for the Nikon system I never found them to work consistently enough to use (couldn't change the power output or even trigger the 900s)... so the PX system is collecting dust.
