THE LENS OVERALL IS VERY GOOD QUALITY. TAKES A SHARP PICTURE. BEST ON A TRIPOD OR UNIPOD. I WAS ONLY USING CANON LENSES TO JUST A WHILE AGO BUY A WELL MADE LENS FOR UNDER WHAT CANON LENSES COST. THE ONLY DRAW BACK IS THAT CANON LENSES COME WITH IMAGE STABILIZER. WHICH WOULD BE PERFECT FOR THIS LENS

Really disappointed. Expected better quality in an EX series lens. Reviews on FredMiranda are confirmedI bought this lens[...]. IQ poor, functionality was good, and I liked the HSM motor drive. Images were consistently soft in high and low light, contrasty and regular photography.

This is a very good lens. It gives the high quality pictures I was wanting. This was a replacement lens for a Tamron. The Tamron was good but this one is just a little better. The Tamron was noisy when focusing while the Sigma is quiet. It is costly compared to the Tamron but for me it was worth it.

The lens covers a super-wide angle of view 104°and has a large-aperture. It has a minimum focusing distance of 27mm at all focal lengths, and maximum magnification ratio of 1:4.5. The models which are equipped with HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) system are ensured a quiet, high-speed AF as well as offering Full Time Manual Focusing. Special Low Dispersion (SLD) and two aspherical glass elements provide excellent compensation for distortion as well as for various aberrations. The design concept of this lens is especially suitable for the characteristics of Digital SLR Cameras. The high performance inner focus system is particularly suitable for using circular polarizing filters and a petal-type hood as the front of the lens does not rotate
