This is my first Sigma Filter and I am impressed it has the thinnest ring I have ever owned and would work on any wide angle lens with out vignetting even on a full frame camera. It appears to have excellent optical qualities in my testing. There are no negatives to this filter.

Great protective UV filter at an afordable price. Glass seems great quality and is absolutely clear.

I am in the habit of only using the manufactuer's own brand of filter. It's makes sense they should know what is best for their lenses! This filter is on mainly for protection but it is great for photos, too. It is thin so vignette is not an issues at wide angle. I have it on my new 24-70mm f.28 EX HSM Sigma lens which I also highly recommend.

Goes in front of a wide-angle lens with no vignetting. Performs as it should.

What can you really say about a filter other than it doesn't affect the image quality of my lens which is great. Made very well and fits the Sigma 24-70 perfectly.

I use this UV filter primarily as protection for my Sigma lens. It was the perfect addtion and was purchased separate from the lens. 82mm threads are not stocked as a rule (as I realized when I tried to buy locally). Adorama shipped the item within hours and as always, the customer service was outstanding.

This is a nice filter. In the past I purchased the least expensive filters I could find but once I started buying better lenses I decided to get filters that would not degrade my images. The images I get with this filter attached, as well as my other Sigma UV filters, have proved to be very nice.

Everyone should have at lest 1 U.V. Filter and a Polarizing Filter like the ones Sigma makes. The only time one of my lenses dosn't have a filter on it is only for the time I want to shoot without it, I don't want to replace a lens or use a lens with scratched glass.

Digitally Optimized (DG) Filters
EX DG filters benefit from Sigma's multi-layer lens coating, developed to counteract the highly reflective characteristic of image sensors. With older style filters, light would reflect off the image sensor, bounce off the lens and filter elements and re-enter the image sensor, creating a ghost image. The multi-layer coating dramatically reduces this effect. In addition to this, an optimum, neutral colour balance is ensured, increasing the white balance accuracy of the digital camera.
Multi-coated UV Filter
This filter perfectly eliminates the harmful effect of ultraviolet light. The multi-coated UV filter can be used with both colour and black-and-white film anddigital sensors. This is the most suitable filter for protective use and generalphotography.
