Broke within 5 months poor design

First off the quality of the carbon fiber is excellent and very sturdy. Unfortunately the twist lock system is terrible. It sticks, the legs don't slide freely or easily. Two of the three legs on my tripod had the stop break within 5 months and the legs just fall out. Sending it back to Slik for repair or replacement. Do not buy the twist lock model.

Not What I Was Looking For

I ordered this tripod as I was looking for something lighter than my Bogen 3221. I decided on the Slik carbon fiber as it was light weight and would handle my camera equipment or so I though. When I got the tripod, my husband tried to attach my BH-1 ballhead to it and there were no set screws to hold the ballhead in place, just the middle screw that attached to the ballhead. Just one small movement loosened up the ballhead and with the expensive gear that goes on the tripod and ballhead, this was not going to work at all. Didn't have the tripod an hour and it was packaged up and returned as there was no way I was going to keep it. We even contacted Slik and was told to maybe use some lock tight on it, not going to do that and void the warranty on it. This is a nice light weight tripod for the price, but not intended for those with large ballheads like I have.

About Slik 823CF

The PRO 823 CF has three leg sections that when fully extended reach a height of 66.3 inches but when completely retracted the tripod is only 23.6 inches in length. It's light-weight of just 3.55 lbs but capability of handling 18 lbs of properly balanced equipment make the tripod an excellent choice for the location photographer with heavy equipment.

All of the new SLIK PRO carbon fiber tripods feature a new A. R. S. (Anti-rotational System) with improved rubber grips make this tripod much easier to operate. So the PRO 824 CF would be usable with the highest number of tripod head from SLIK and others the tripod has a reversible 3/8 - 1/4-20 mount post.
