I transfer film and video for a living. This camera is not mac ready, find mpeg streamclip... it will convert for you.

I purchased 5 of these camera and everyone went bad. The problem is the connection between teh screen and the camera, after just 6 months the connection went bad and now, although the camera still records, I can not see what I am recording so it is basically useless. I would not recommend this camera for that specific reason. MAKE SURE YOU PURCAHSE A CAMERA WITH A VIEWFINDER AND NOT JUST A VIEWSCREEN.

I debated over so many models before a landed on the DCR-SR220 and I'm glad I did. I bought this camcorder almost 2 years ago and it has been wonderful to me. I film everything with it. It's a great camera for someone starting out with video productions or just for a person who wants to capture priceless family moments. The interface is so easy to use. Taking the footage off this camera is so simple too, all you have to do is plug it in to the usb on your computer and then drag and drop - or use the software it comes with. The touch screen is awesome and there's a lot of tinkering you can do with it if you don't just want the auto focus/white balance/expoure to do it all for you :) It's nice having the choice. It's a great video camera and I would suggest anyone looking for the best "affordable" camcorder to get THIS ONE!

I purchased this camera 1.5 years ago to tape my son playing football and baseball. great video quality. but when it came down to editing, I can only do it on PC based computers, MACs do not work with this camera at all. Very disappointing....

I bought this camera about 5 months ago. I am very disappointed with the lowlight filming for this camera. I was looking for a camera to film low light videos with, but the quality looks horrible. I has cool features though like filming in 240 fps, infrared filming, and 5.1 surround sound. I keep the audio on regular mode because when I film with it in 5.1 surround, there is a lot of fuzzy noise. I recommend this camera only for entry-level filmers

I did some research before making this purchase, wish I'd done a little more. This unit is easy to use, great quality, huge hard drive to store lots of video. Unfortunately, the video quality is not quite what we expected, especially from a Sony product. Indoors, with lights on, the video seems very dark. Very disappointed.

Superb results from advanced Sony technology. With a ClearVid CMOS sensor (with Exmor technology) and BIONZ image processor, the DCR-SR220 Handycam camcorder captures vibrant, high resolution video and still images that please the senses.
Its dual record mode even lets you take 4 megapixel photos while recording video directly to your choice of either the built-in 60GB hard disk or removable Memory Stick Duo or Memory Stick PRO Duo media.
