Questions & Answers

Ben P : how can I change the 10 Min splits in this camera it dose not record continuosly?JEFF M : This cam will record non stop, it does split the file after 2GB into another file without any lose of video. If you place the files in a editor and make your film it will combine them to how ever long you want.
Shopper : Does this come with at least one battery?TRENTON A : To get a battery you need to buy the package that SAYS it comes with a (or multiple) batteries. Otherwise, you will likely be spending extra money out of pocket for one. The good news is if you buy the package with the batteries you get the extended life (9 hr) sony batteries.Ben P : Yes But I chose VegasPro Insted Other websites Offer 2 Batteries You have Choices.CLIFFORD B : Hello, At the time of my purchase, Adorama was running a special "kit" offer. This included (2) Sony NP-F970 Batteries plus $150.00 rebate from Sony. That was certainly enough of an enticement to purchase this camera. Best, CBJEFF L : my camera came with TWO batteries in a special package deal. If you are going to shoot for much longer than a couple of hours, you'll need at least two batteries.MELODY M : Originally it doesn't come with any batteries, however, I purchased the bundle from Adorama and I got 2 batteries. Hope this helps.BRANDON G : NOPE sadly and if you plan to do any all day shoots get 2.alexei s : No, there is no battery.
alexei s : Somebody in BHphotovideo review noticed that the length of video-clip is limited to 2GB (typical for some DSLRs). I this true or it can continuously record clip on any length?JEFF M : The book says: files longer than 2GB will be split.KIM A : Thats not true at all. This camera is a real "work horse" and can film for hours in one file.ANDREW R : The system specs provided by Sony are unclear on this issue. From the system specs: Recording/Playback Time: Approx. 290min(SDXC 64GB, PS, LPCM) Approx. 340min(SDXC 64GB, FX, LPCM) Approx. 450min(SDXC 64GB, FH, LPCM)

Nice for the money

This is a nice camcorder for the money. It has a good 20X zoom, takes nice pictures and has great features. It does not do to well in low light as all 1/3 sensor cams don't. If your subject has a lot of back lighting it does well The batteries last a long time and the recording media is a lot cheaper than SxS cards. But does not record at the bit rate others do.

Perfect Medium Budget Pro Camera

having used the predecessor to this camera, the Sony NX5, the NX3 fixes some of the issues from that camera, and adds a few new notable features. We shoot mainly auto racing and sporting events, and having a 20X and now a 40X Clear Image Zoom were huge selling points. Finding a good quality HD camera of any kind with a 20X lens is Not easy. Sony added to the detail and vibrance of this camera by adding the (3) EXMOR 2/3 inch sensors that all of our B cameras utilize for great picture quality. Plenty of flexibility for the Novice and Pro Videographer to capture amazing images. Many people have complained about the camera Not coming with a Sony battery, but previously having (3) VX-2000 cameras that used the same NP-970 batteries, we had a few extra still in use. One other big change was adding the old style Sony power supply connection on the camera vs. the NX5's ridiculous power supply adapter in place of a battery. Now with the NX3, we can run on power and have the battery as a backup when the power goes out. All in ALL, this is a great replacement for anyone who used (3) Chip cameras in the past. Negatives on this camera so far: -Lack of Internal Flash memory would have been another great addition. -Inability to Dim the onboard LCD Light (which is quite bright) Lack of supplied onboard Shotgun Microphone, Sony got cheap here to save money. Great purchase for the Novice to Professional Shooter.
