The Sony KDL-60R550A 60" 2D/3D Full HD 1080p LED Internet TV with Edge LED Backlight technology, which enhances contrast and reproduces images with sharp clarity. The TV also features built-in Wi-Fi, Ethernet connectivity, Miracast wireless mirroring and Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL). With Wi-Fi, you can stream a variety of Internet content from the Sony Entertainment Network, as well as DLNA home network content. Miracast and MHL allow you to connect your compatible mobile device to the TV, so you can mirror your mobile media on the TV's big 1920 x 1080 screen.
Besides Edge LED Backlight technology, this TV also supports Live Color technology to emphasize vividness of color. Plus, Motionflow XR 240 ensures fast-paced action movies and sports are blur-free and more natural looking. This model provides passive 3D with an enhanced 3D sound profile as well. Four pairs of 3D glasses are also included. Other video features include an Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE), Digital Noise Reduction and 24P True Cinema.
The TV's audio features are equally impressive. With support for Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital Pulse and Simulated Surround, your audio will be as high-quality as the HD video. Plus, you can even output audio via the digital coaxial connection to your AV receiver for true surround sound from your home theater speakers. The TV's other connectivity options include multiple HDMI inputs, component, USB 2.0 and more. The TV's USB 2.0 ports work as a media player, so you can enjoy a variety of video, audio and photo files on the big screen.
The R550 Series TV even offers a receiver-less option if you are a DIRECTV customer. It allows you place the DIRECTV Genie Whole-Home HD DVR in any room of your house and stream content directly to the TV without the clutter of connecting a DIRECTV receiver to it. This model also features BRAVIA Sync, an onboard iManual, Skype calling with the optional Skype camera and much more.
