Don't buy

The fluid head mount arrived broken. Didn't like the leg "locks", you have to twist them and they don't "catch" right away.

great buy

very solid construction, all metal. the quick release is easy to use, has a quick snap lock and an additional safety lock. controls are smooth and easy to use. i have seen and used more expencve pods and in my opinon arn't as well made.

• The Smith-Victor Pro 40500 heavy-duty professional tripod, is designed to hold a pro SLR camera with telephoto lens attached, video camera or spotting scope. The tripod features a 3-way pan/tilt head with a quick release system with a built-in bubble level.

The Pro 40500 head has independent pan and tilt locks and the tripod feature a center geared column, heavy duty rubber end legs, with locking center brace for extra support. The Pro 40500 has a five year Smith-Victor warranty
