The light is too bright to use in any room you sleep in. And there needs to be at least one non-plug plug in in today's world. And you have to be sure that your set up allows the side that turns out to be in the proper place. Too early to tell about how well the item does what it is supposed to do.

Ten out of ten would highly recommend for anybody. The last ones that I owned had fried due to a power surge and they replaced It and provided amazing customer service.

This is by far hands down the best, most versatile and cost justifiable surge protector I have ever purchased in over 50 years of purchasing electronic equipment. Living in the country we frequently experience electrical quick outages that often cause sensitive electronic equipment to lose their internal settings even when they contain batteries designed to retain the settings. Since I connected some electronics to the Tripp-Lite Protect It Surge Protector I don't have to run around updating electronic settings any longer. It's the swiss army knife of surge protectors. It is small and compact so I take this with me when traveling. Of course I also use it at home where I want/need to save space behind an appliance, and as a superior and adaptible powerstrip. AND, it's made by Tripp Lite, the company with THE best reputation in surge protection power strips. I've had surges ruin some of my equipment, and since storms are getting worse and more frequent, it won't be a matter of IF I get hit again, but WHEN. So, surge protection is necessary nowadays. There is one odd (though miner) thing about it - the 3 outlet prongs on the back are on the "bottom" rather than the top of the device. But, if most of the cords connected to it are positioned sidways to the face of the unit rather than in front of it, as is how I use it, then my hypothethical concern is less likely.

I plug it in. Plug things into it and everything works. Can't test to see if it will actually protect in case of a surge, but don't see why it wouldn't.

Bought this unit to protect our refrigerator from power spikes after having the compressor on our previous refrigerator get ruined by one of those power spikes. I picked this particular unit because it has outlets facing the side which was important for our situation as there was not room enough behind the refrigerator to have the plug sticking straight out. I also like the swivel outlets on the right side as well as having 6 outlets on the unit for plugging in other appliances or electronic devices if necessary. We haven't encountered any power spikes as of yet since purchasing this unit but am counting on Tripp-Lite's reputation as a proven brand to come through and protect our refrigerator when those power spikes hit, which I know they will.

This surge protector works great. I recently hung a TV on the wall with the outlet behind it I was able to fit everything close to the wall with this even with the large transformers that came with the cable TV box. I am very satisfied.

I have this plugged into the outlet near my work desk to power my laptop, copier, shredder, lamp, modem, and cell phone charger. I wish it had some USB ports to free up outlet space, but it works great regardless. The swivel column is really convenient as I can swivel it out to easily access those outlets and then swivel it back to keep the plugs all flush and flat. Having the outlets run along each side really helps to make all the wires look neater and organized.

It's a useful device, the power protector works great, but the rotating part feels a bit weak and is kind of difficult to plug things in it, so I'll have to give it 4 stars for that
