Quite a bit smaller than expected

I'm using this for a Go Pro (with a tripod mount). It's quite a bit smaller than expected, I understand this is the Point-and-shoot camera version, but the legs are only just enough to go around something as thick as a regular guy's wrist, and certainly not long enough to go around something like a fence post. Other than that, it does work as expected.
