Let's face it, the case that comes with the Pentax AF540 flash is nice but its a storage case not suited for use in the field. I wanted something to keep my AF540 secure and safe outside my house and needed to find a case that was tough, padded, closed securely, and could be carried conveniently. After looking around I decided on the MX5385. It fits like it was made for the AF540 (so don't expect the smaller Medium size MX5383 to fit properly). Like all the Tamrac gear I have and have handled it is well made of high quality materials. They use a LOT of velcro on the paddle and it has snaps too that ensure it stays on the MAS or belt that it is attached to. In addition the carry handle on the top, while not as robust as the rest, is a nice touch and adequate for its purpose. The interior main pocket is a perfect, and padded, fit for the flash. The smaller open topped pocket will hold up to 8 AA batteries or a flash foot or some combination of small accessories. One warning, the flash has to go in head first in order for the smaller pocket to be fully accessible. There is enough depth to the main pocket that I have added extra dense foam for cushioning to the bottom of the case and the flash still fits perfectly. The only cons, and they are small ones, are that the paddle is VERY wide and will not fit into many of the standard attachment points on camera bags made by other than Tamrac (like the SlipLock system of LowePros) and the paddle is very long so that it slides up and down when worn on a belt. Neither is a deal breaker for me because the case's dimensions are so perfect and the construction is so robust overall. If the paddle was a bit narrower, or made of a non-rigid material so it could compress, it would get a 10 from me.

The attachment is very good but the vertical movement is excessive. When the bag is attached it will move 4" to 6" vertical. I feel that the manufacturer should provide a way to prevent this much vertical movement. This is the only thing that stops this accessory from being perfect.

You can use this bag to protect big flashes and also for anyother accessory that you have. I plan on using it for both purposes. The build quality is great and I do not regret buying it.

I wanted something that would fit my Canon 430 EXII with the diffuser attached, and this is just right. I don't know if there is supposed to be a rain cover included, but mine didn't come with one.

Excellent addition to a Tamrac backpack. The SB-900 takes up quite a bit of space in the backpack. This pouch allows you to place the unit on the outside of the backpack freeing up valuable space inside. It is constructed of what appear to be very durable materials. A SB-900 fits perfectly and will even fit with the factory diffuser attached. Front pocket on the pouch holds extra batteries or other small items. Would recommend to anyone needing more space in their backpack.

I got a tamrac holster to carry just the camera with one lens so when I go on vacation I don’t have to take my big bag. There are times when I want to only add my 580ex but still not bring the big bag. So this goes on the side of my holster and it works great.

A fast-access, foam-padded pocket for pro flashes like Canon's 580EX II or Nikon's SB-800 or light meters. Front pocket provides space for batteries or other flash accessories. Quickly attaches to our Modular Accessories System compatible products or to any belt.
