Just got an upgrade to replace the old one, I have never had a better NAS! My old unit is over 10 years old and has been stable since day one. Definite learning curve, but after having set up the first one, the second one was super easy. TONS of options, more than I'll ever use for sure.

The DS1520+ will not create an SSD cache from an installed SSD.

Working great so far. There is a lot to learn. This NAS can do more then I will probably ever need it for. If I  had a 4k TV and 4k media to steam to it I might have gone with a DS1621+

Great software - Good hardware

Synology NAS are generally good. This is powerful NAS and should more than meet your home needs.
There 2 fans for cooling. It is quiet. It runs smoothly. There are 4 LAN port for trunking or connecting to different subnets. I am use it for storage and Docker HomeAssistant.

Easy to setup. Has advanced features. Add WD Red Pro deives. Quick transfers on my network. Using to store all my raw photos with lightroom catalog synced between PCs. Works great so far. Solid purchase.

Great performance, even with spinning drives. From VPN to file server to backup, it's the all-in-one device we needed.

I started with a QNAP unit and ran into trouble.  I returned it to Adriana, no problem and purchased this Synology unit.  The user interface is really simple.  It may not have as many knobs and switches, but it works.  It?s a great unit.  The only downside is no 10gbe connection.

Great unit, easy to configure and use

Beautifully packed.  Easy to setup.  Easy to interface to cloud storage.  

One suggestion is to better integrate with a Mac.  Time machine is supported for local but I need to backup remote Mac’s as well.   Would love client software for a Mac that ensures TM works remotely.  

Finally I love the package but the documentation is sparse.   Need to search all over just to determine what a package does.

Easiest NAS to work with but needs more for Mac!

I upgraded from the DS412+. Swapped my hard drives to the new NAS in the exact same order and everything was migrated in less than 30 seconds.

Awesome product... my plex, settings, and all my files are running great.
