I am having a difficult time removing this head from the tripod. It works well but I can't seem to remove it. I'm sure it is something simple but anyone with tips of how to take this head off my tripod would help. Great product and value. Only disappointed with the plastic clamp. It's not secure enough for my Nikon D7000. Especially with the additional battery pack unit installed. But it does work smoothly enough for video and seems better suited for my SOny NEX VG10.

After painstakingly compairing products, features, buyer reviews and price I decided to purchase this head to serve both video and photo needs. Great price/value/performance.

Frugal photo

I paired this with my 190CXPRO4 tripod.  I chose this head because I wanted to take stills and shoot video with my D-SLR.  It offers plenty of motion for smooth panning and you can adjust the friction control.  The lateral tilt goes 90 degrees to the left and 60 degrees to the right.  I was debating between this and a Manfrotto ball head.  The ball head will give you more control at ease but the 391RC2 offers the best of both worlds for video + photo.  The bar handle is easy to grasp.  Overall, the quality is good and the price is right.

I purchased this head for my daughter to use with her Nikon D40. We mounted it on a Manfrotto 190XB, and it provides decent enough stability. 

I was disappointed to see that some parts, including the clamp that holds the quick release are made of plastic. There is also not a secondary mechanism to secure the quick release clamp. 

I suppose this is fine for a camera as light as the D40, but I have to wonder about the durability after a few years.

The head functions smoothly and locks things in place securely.
