The Right Camera for the right Time

This camera added to our abilities for streaming our services by providing different camera shots while streaming. We coupled this with the Mini ATEM Pro and remain quite satisfied with the camera and capabilities.

I have used these XA cams for several years now and have been recording concerts in concert halls and schools with great results.  I highly reccomend these "XA" style cameras for any use.

Great camerra for those on a budget and wanting superb video

I love the camera... 4 star is a result of being able to register it on the Canon site where I bought it. I "maybe" should have purchased th XA40 for 4k. Still a great purchase.

Great camera/not 4K - registration problems

I purchased this camera in December 2019.  It has been used entirely for simple home videos so far.  Most features of the camera are fine.  However, it wasn't until the summer of 2020 that I discovered that the view screen is completely useless in daylight and the optical viewfinder cannot be used with eyeglasses.  Since I have astigmatism, diopter adjustment isn't helpful.  Also the optical viewfinder is very small and has to be nearly perfectly centered to be visible.  At this level, I would have expected a view screen that is daylight visible.  The technology is there. I had hopes of doing a mini-documentary about our local community, its sights and sounds, but that is now dubious due to the difficulty I have using this camera outdoors.

I cannot give this camera a heartfelt recommendation unless it is intended entirely for indoor/studio use.

Great Camera

Several items in the bundle are cheaply made.  The battery charger didn't work out of the box!  There is no information about using the provided lens filters.  Overall, the value of the bundle seems poor.  I would recommend that you buy the camera which is very good with many features.  Forgo the bundle!

Great camera but there is a need for better training on settings .  This is not very user friendly out of the box.

Great camera

Though I love Canon video and camera equipment, I was disappointed with this. Not because of this model or the manufacturer, rather because if I'm spending $1500 for a video camcorder, the quality must be substantially better than the iPhone in my pocket.  Maybe it's just that 1080p technology is not for everyone. The video is certainly acceptable, but the picture captures from the video are terrible, especially in low light.  I wasn't looking to shoot a movie for the Cannes Film festival, but I certainly expect better quality from what I can get off my iPhone without spending another $1500.  I returned this camcorder and will purchase a 4k with 1" sensor.

Now, the question whether I would recommend this product depends on the needs of the buyer.  If you are looking only for a video in good light without picture captures, this may be for you. Otherwise, maybe not.

Beast of a product

Our church purchased a Canon XA-11 in May to use during live streaming our services during COVID-19 pandemic, and it was great until we also went with SlingStudio in July to do a multi-camera livestream and then it became useless.  The Canon XA-11 is NOT compatible with SlingStudio and we had to set it aside, and use a church member’s Nikon Z6 and several iPhones and/or iPads.

Great Camcorder

We are using the Canon xa11 as a live stream camera for our worship services.  It has been a great camera offering great picture quality and simplicity of use.  We are excited to be also using it as an interview camera to capture testimonies and a "word on the street" camera to get feedback from our community on issues and questions that will be played at our worship services.  The ability to plug a hand-held mic or a shotgun mic into 1 of 2 XLR inputs and record directly onto the SD card along with the video is huge for these purposes as well.  It has been a powerful addition to our ministry right out of the box.
