Why would I want a Canon when I have been shooting with Nikon since 1978? The hood works fine. But you need to change your approach to include Nikon folks.

Hood arrived on-time and works as described. Only criticism is that the description for the 200-500mm Zoom lens did not indicate that a lens hood was included with purchase. So, I ordered one. When the lens (including the hood) AND supplemental hood arrived I found that I now had TWO lens hoods. Had no need for two, so sent the supplemental one back. Adorama was excellent in that I printed off a return label paid for by Adorama. Thanks.

Seems fine. I bought the 200-500 without a hood so I purchased this. Seems to stay on without any issues. I haven't taken it out in the field yet.

Works well. A bit more fiddling to get it on compared with my 80-200 2.8 lens. Haven't used it much in bright sun, but no flare so far.

I have had the nikon 200-500 for a little over a year which i purchased as a demo. The lens hood seemed a little loose, like it just didnt quite click in firmly when attached to the lens. No big deal, i got a good price and lens was pristine, so the not so firmly fitting lens hood was not a huge deal. After a few months of it falling off at the most inopportune times i though... ok so i guess i should get a new one before i lose this. I mistakenly thought it would fit better, it didnt. The new one is just as much of a pos as the old one. So while i i would recommend it, i will not give it a high rating... because, its a pos :)

Just the right amount of protection from unwanted light in all ranges of Zoom with the 200-500 Nikkor zoom lens. the bayonet hood also (Although not a recommended feature) saved my lens when it was knocked from my hands and landed on the pavement, the hood saved the lens from damage at the cost of the bayonet mount. a dab of Gaffer's tape kept me shooting the rest of the day!
