I use it with my Canon 5D Mark II to take images in available light at church for its newsletter, with great results. Also, I use this combination for landscape and some macro photography, again with great results. The images are tact sharp across the photo. The lens is a great walk about lens, which gives me great flexibility.

I bought this zoom so I don't have to keep changing lenses as I walk around the city or the country side.

This is the only "not-L" lens that I use on my Canon 5D. It is wonderful for those times where traveling light is a priority. While not tack sharp like the equivalent L focal length, it is sharp enough for reasonably sized prints and crops. Have to use the lock to prevent creep while carrying, but this is a trivial inconvenience.

Good for travel; using with my Canon 6D. Initial pictures looked great.

The small size allows me to use it all the time for landscape and wildlife photography. It has a fast focus and the anti-shake device makes sure that you will take a good photograph all the time.

If you want convenience not changing lens and have pictures for memory when travel, it will be OK. If you are critical about IQ, fast focus, low light..It's not

I take mostly landscape and wildlife pictures. I compared this lens to my 300mm Pro lens and found that the 300mm zoom was less then my 300mm zoom. I use a Canon 5d mark II

Good lens, a little soft at times, but this stays on my camera for general use. I have more expensive, more restricted focal lenghts, but this is a good choice for a walk-around lens.

This is a good walkaround lens, it is soft and slow to focus in low light. This is still the lens that stays on my camera, unless I seek faster focus and sharpness. I would purchase again, this is not for pro quality prints.

don't have to change lens as often as it covers most of the situations I need it for.

This the Lense Every Pro-Photographer Should Get It. I wish Tamaron would have 16mm Or 18mm x 300mm lense available.

I love this Lens. It gives me a wide range of Zoom so I only have to carry one lens when I go walking with my family

Bought to go with my new Canon T2i. Wanted a single lens for most pix - but it's only good for 4x6 prints - NOT larger. Extremely soft at all focal lengths. Slow autofocus. NOT AS GOOD as my Canon kit 18-55mm. [...] Decided to buy better glass and keep changing lenses.

Noticeably better than the Canon 28-200mm and 28-300mm lenses. Image stabilization is super.

For the money there are much better lenses out there. I own other lenses... another Tamron (which I was trying to replace with this one), Tokina, Sigma and Canon and in comparison Tamron is very cheaply made! I will be returning mine and getting something else.

I bought this as an all-purpose back up lens. It's brand new, and hasn't got much use yet. Still, I own other Tamron lenses, and expect the same quality and durablity from this lens. It does attach easily, and the electronics work fine. Wide angle distortion is within normal range. The vibration control is nice on long exposures. I'm happy with my purchase.

I use it for general photography. Haven't gotten a poor picture out of it yet and don't expect to. Operation is as smooth as silk, and tho slightly heavy,it is worth carrying every ounce. Personally, I can find no fault with it.

I shoot a lot of small birds, and water fowl. A tripod just isn't practical. This lens has enabled me to shoot several shutter speeds slower and still get pin sharp results. It will also help in my wedding photography. Won't have to constantly change from long lens to wide angle as often. I am very pleased with the performance of this lens.

I really love my Tamron 28-300 mm lens. I have a little problem with being steady all the time and the vibration control (VC) really helps me a lot. It is even better for my girlfriend when she shoots low light situations with the VC. The large lens hood keeps out most of the glare that I have been getting with my 75-300 from canon. I no longer have to change lenses during wedding photography from my 18-55 to a 75-300. The Tamron is far superior in versatility to the canon 75-300mm that I used to have. My girlfriend has loved my lens so much she wants to buy her own. Maybe it will be her birthday present. [@]

Have had this lens for almost a year and it has easily become my all around choice. I have to get my daughter her own for Christmas or I might be loosing mine as she also is a big fan. I have a Canon 30D and she uses a XTsi. The results are great. We do alot of sport photog and action shot as well as portraits.

Purchased this lens a few weeks back. It provides clear, sharp images. Focus is reasonably fast and is almost always on my 5D. Great for a walk around lens or in situations where carrying two or three lenses would be a hassle. Vibration compensation allows for shots with shutter speeds that would normally be too slow to shoot without a tripod. Only annoyance is the lens will creep forward via gravity when tilted toward the ground. Not a problem when shooting but you have to be careful when walking with it slung to your shoulder. Be sure to use the lens lock.

This lens could be a bad sample, but the image quality is just not acceptable. I am sending it back to exchange for another - hopefully much better.

The AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC covers everything from wide-angle to telephoto and macro. Tamron has incorporated a Vibration Compensator an anti-shake mechanism developed by Tamron into this highly versatile zoom lens.
The new AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC LD Aspherical (IF) MACRO zoom lens offers the convenience, comfort and versatility of a high power zoom lens and the capability to reduce hand-shake blur on DSLR cameras using either APS-C size or full-size format imagers.
When the AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC is used with a full-size format SLR camera, it covers a tremendous focal length range from 28mm in wide angle to 300mm ultra telephoto. When mounted on a DSLR with an APS-C sized imager, the lens covers a 43mm wide angle to 465mm ultra telephoto(*) (full size format equivalent, in a diagonal angle of view of 5°20').
The proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism developed by Tamron features a triaxial configuration using three pairs of driving coils and slide balls around the compensator group of the lens' optical system. Since the compensator lenses are supported with rolling friction of the balls, the response performance is enhanced and the construction is simple, which results in the compactness of the lens. The lens incorporates a highly accurate gyro sensor for detecting hand-shake, which, combined with a 32-bitRISC CPU, offers comfortable anti-vibration effects.
Outstanding Design Realizing High Zoom Power, VC Mechanism and Compactness
The AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.5 XR Di VC integrates optical technologies that Tamron has accumulated as the pioneer and leader of high power zoom lenses in order to realize the desired compactness even while incorporating the VC mechanism. The optical system uses a number of lens elements made from special optical glass materials including XR (high refraction index) glass elements, GM (glass-molded) elements, hybrid aspherical elements, LD (low dispersion) glass elements to compensate for on-axis and lateral chromatic aberrations and AD (anomalous dispersion) glass element. The lens offers high contrast, high resolution performance and flatness of the image field as a one-does-it-all zoom lens designed to match the characteristics of DSLR cameras.
Revolutionary MFD of 19.3" (0.49m) Throughout Zoom Range Provides 1:3 Macro Magnification Ratio
The AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC MACRO boasts an MFD (minimum focusing distance) of 19.3" (0.49m) over the entire zoom range, a top-class close focusing capability among high power zoom lenses for full-size format SLR cameras, which provides the remarkable maximum macro magnification ratio of 1:3 at the 300mm telephoto end.
