Buyer Beware

This product has major compatibility problems. The manufacturer has only certified it for use with three older motherboards that use the Renesas USB 3 chipset. Unfortunately, I use a current high performance motherboard that uses an ASMedia USB 3 chipset, and it would not recognize the unit. However, since the instructions are so poor, it took me a while to determine that the system was not fully recognizing the unit. I contacted technical support, and they said that I was out of luck since I was not using an approved motherboard. They did provide a list of a few additional motherboards that others have had success with, but would not provide any assistance with debugging any non-approved motherboard. I was finally able to get my system to recognize the Intensity Shuttle by purchasing a USB 3.0 card that uses the Renesas chipset. Once the updated drivers were installed for the card, the Shuttle was finally recognized - but only by the on-board USB ports, which do not use the approved Renesas chipset!! Once the Shuttle was up and running, it works fine. But the incompatibility with most motherboards on the market makes the purchase a potential nightmare. Buyer beware.

Great Product

I got this to have the ability to digitize VHS and older media with the option to upscale. The setup is not bad, just a little more than plug and play. But a quick Google search and your in business. You just need to know what your source device is outputing at or how to change it so you can choose the right settings for the box. Easy enough. After this, it is great. Good interface with NLE, but I recommend the included software, Media Express to capture. Easy and best for settings.
