A simple, sturdy, stable ballhead

I use this BH atop my Induro C213 tripod. Together they provide a solid base for my Canon 5d Mk2 using a 70-200 f/2.8L with a 2X TC. I love the simplicity of this ballhead which has only one tension control knob. A real pleasure to use and to carry, as it adds less than a pound to my rig. I only wish that the detent pin worked with the QR plates I already own from a Giotto BH.

Super for macro!

By

I was frustrated with my previous ballhead because of slippage; friend recommended Acratech. Great improvement for shooting macro shots with my Nikon D7000 + 105mm lens.

Pro Ballhead

If you are having problems with stability on your tripod, especially in the portrait mode (forward or downward lens creep on your ballhead because your camera rotates on its mounting screw), this will solve that problem handily. This head is a tidy, light ballhead for all uses. Be sure to order the right, camera specific quick release plate.

The Perfect Ballhead

By

I've been doing photography awhile now and used 2 different heads prior to this one but none compare to this ingenious design for quick set up and stability. When used with a good tripod the photographer is all set for any angle any time.

Rock steady ballhead

By

from Lake Ariel, PA  -  Photography Student

I have only recently received this head. I use it on a Manfrotto tripod. The quick release is great; however, the head did not come with the quick release plate, which was quite annoying. I used it this past Monday for my grandson's graduation at a large arena where I was seated a good distance away from the stage and nearly at the top of the seating area. My camera was mounted at a sharp angle and it held steady once it was set.

Great Ballhead, exceeded expectations

By

It takes a bit getting used to but once I got my technique down with this ballhead, it just became an extension of me. The friction adjustment on the ball works extremely well and you can dial in just how much resistance you want very easily. When you tighten it down, it doesn't move, period. Very well made and built to last. I consider it a good value for the price. I use it with an old Manfrotto heavy aluminum studio tripod and it is rock solid stable.

Great ballhead, very solid

By

from Atlanta  -  Semi-pro Photographer

This is a very solid ballhead. It easily locks in any position with no sag. The gimbal design does take some getting used to. Sometimes you have to rotate the head to get it into the position you need. The quick release is very convenient and quick to operate. Custom quick release plates are a bit expensive. The detent pin has saved my camera at least once.

Incredible ballhead at a fair price

By

from Fairway, KS  -  Photo Enthusiast

A rock solid ball head at a fair price. Its specs are very conservative -- it can hold more than 25 lbs. It is so smooth in its operation. I have tried a lot of ballheads and this is by far the best for the money

Small with firm grip

For landscape and micro photos of insects The great thing is its compactness. Its G shape and factory setting of angle I cannot comprehend.

Questions about this item:

adam s  I just bought one of these and I am disappointed that it didn't come with the level on the outside, that it is on the inside and the plate sets on top of it - kind of defeating the purpose - I just received the head yesterday. I bought it from outdoor photogear. I want this version as as I do both macro and landscape. The first I got was 350 - any reason why - what makes that version more expensive than this one?
THOMAS P  I believe it is because of the QR locking lever clamp on that model. This version has a knob for working the QR plate. (And the bubble level is on the outside as well). I have this particular ballhead myself and I use it macro work myself. Really nice ballhead.
