  • Acratech quick release plates are designed to provide maximum contact area to the bottom of the camera increasing stability and helping to minimize flexing ofthe camera body

Simple and efficient

The build quality of this plate is outstanding and once installed, it feels like it's part of the camera. It fits very precisely both on the camera and the in tripod quick release clamp. The shape of the plate makes it that it won't rotate on the camera. The only issue, which arguably isn't, is that you need a tool (included) to install it and the the screw is not self retaining. This is a design choice from Acratech since self retaining screws have a groove that weakens the screw. This makes it a very sturdy assembly perfectly suited for heavy photography equipment. Solid and strong, hope it's cheaper

It's attached to D700 body firmly, like it's part of it. Very strong. Minus one star from five because wish it be cheaper.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
JUN Y  I chose this because it is designed for my Nikon D700 body and the acratech quick release tripod system. It stays on bottom of D700 body, not that protruding or distracting. It'll be even better if it's cheaper without compromising its quality.
Jerome P  Does this plate work on Nikon d300 as well? Also does it prevent the plate from twisting and loosening? I was recently in the middle of shooting a wedding; bride coming down the isle and the universal plate I have came really loose, had to mount the flash on the camera in lieu of the bracket, not good.
DAVID W  According to Acratech, the proper plate for the Nikon D300 is plate #2167. The Acratech camera plates have a shoulder along one side that prevents motion (twisting). The plates and the designed-in shoulder are related to the size of the camera body. I believe that the D700 body is slightly larger than that of the D300. If you search on the Acratech website for the appropriate camera plate for the D300 you come up with nothing. But search on plate #2167, and the site says that it is good for the D300, D800, etc. I googled your question and came up with this Acratech website shortcoming.
