This is the lighting stand to buy.

By

from Cincinnati, OH  -  Pro Photographer

I own a multitude of standard lighting stands. None of them compare to this Avenger C-Stand. It is rock solid, bends and twists into any position needed, and holds an enormous amount of weight. My 5' octabox hangs like a feather without any counter balance weight needed. The black cuts down on reflections and I have yet to have an issue with the paint scraping or chipping off. The removable turtle style base is a must have. With the legs off this stand fits in my grip case with everything else and isn't a pain to transport. Despite it's hefty price tag, if you're only going to buy one stand, this is the one to buy.

Worth the money

Heavy enough to hold your light boxes at any angle yet easy to move around. Definitly not a portable light stand to take on location unless for some serious photography. It does fold up quite compactly.

McNally's Right!

By

from Orono, Maine  -  Semi-pro Photographer

McNally talks about "C-stand Complete" in his books on his blog and in person on The FlashBus Tour. I finally had a situation where I felt like I should buy one and all I can say is that McNally is right. This is an important, useful, versatile and awesome stand. I love it and will be looking for another soon.

Just what I needed.

I was looking at a lighter weight stand/ boom combo. A sales agent suggested this instead. For my mono-light heads this was the right choice. I'm super happy, and will buy another in the future.

Reasonable value

By

from Tucson, AZ  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I bought two of these. One was perfect, the other must have been partially rinsed when it was sealed in the bag. It literally had a cup of fluid in the bag and was covered with what looks like polishing compound. The steel was completely fine, the surface finish on the aluminum fittings had been attacked by the polishing compound. Very strange. But it was still completely functional

Solid!

By

from Orono, Maine  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Love having a complete c-stand. Solid stand for speedlights with modifiers or my AB1600s. Love being able to fly light in from above. Don't forget your sandbags though. It's rugged but leverage is leverage and it will tip over if not braced.

Questions about this item:

Ying L  I want to buy this kit because of Joe. I am really confusing about this kind of stand product, there are too many adapters. The official AVENGER site doesn't explain clearly enough for amateur like me. I got a SB 910,a mini TT5. What else do I need to buy for hanging up my flash on this kit?
RICHARD G  (1) Avenger 6" Long Pin, 5/8" in Diameter with a 7/8" Collar, or equivalent. (2) One of: (a) Manfrotto 026 Swivel Umbrella Adapter (Lite-tite) (#2905), (b) Manfrotto Rapid Adapter (Converts Standard 5/8" Lightstand Tip to a 17mm Long 3/8" Male Thread. (#3102)) with Manfrotto 492 Micro Ball Head, or (c) equivalent. (3) Stroboframe Bracket Shoe Mount or equivalent.
Shopper  how does the strobe fit on. Dont you need another small extention arm at the end of the boom to put the flash head on?
Ying L  Can someone give me the exact product number which can fit this C stand? I need to hang my TT5+SB910 or Einstein™ E640 Flash Unit. ADORAM didn't recommend the related products...
Shopper  Hi. I was wondering if one of the legs is sliding (can be lifted up for un-even places such as stairs or places that are not flat) Is it difficult to use this c-stand on un-even terrain?????
DAVID S  This stand does not have a sliding leg. However it is very robust and is easily strong enough to hold me. A small tilt should be no problem especially with a sandbag. This stand is heavy however and it is nothing to take on a hike. ( I have discovered that beauty is sometimes inversely proportional to the distance and weight of your equipment.) When I am outdoors I try to make use of rocks, branches and other things to negate wind on a lightstand. In my experience any softbox without someone hanging on to it outdoors is a problem. I hope this answers your question. Be Blessed, David
