Jeff s : I want to see my new canon 5D mark III on my Panasonic 900 sdi monitor. I would also like to record on too a sound device pix 240 .Can I do all that with out losing quality?KEN L : Great question, I wish I would have asked before purchased. We have the 5D mark 2, the AJA HA5. When you plug the HDMI out of our D5 camera into the AJA HA5 and take the output of the HDSDI out put to your HDSI monitor you can see the image. The problem is when you hit the record button on the D5 mark 2, it defaults to a SD picture so it's no longer visible on the HDSDI input of the monitor. HDSDI, the SI stands for single interface the MI stands for multi interface. Not sure on the D5 MIII. We own a Pix 240, same problem picture disappears when you hit the record button on the D5 mark II because the Pix 240 will not see a SD (standard definition picture) I bought a Panasonic 1850 with the HDMI input and all of my monitoring problems went away.

About AJA HA5

The AJA HA5 converts HDMI to SDI or HD-SDI. Up to eight channels of HDMI audio are embedded into the SDI/HD-SDI output allowing a convenient single cable audio/video connection. The HA5 provides two SDI/HD-SDI outputs and supports long HDMI cables on the input. The HA5 is useful for connecting HDMI cameras to SDI/HD-SDI equipment.
