You must take off the cover to the battery compartment on your camara. You must know for sure if this is what you want to do. You will not be able to get the cover back on if you decided that you do not like the power grip.

The battery grip is a must have product for all SLR photographers. Balances the Cam and comfy! The only con ,in this brand, is the absence of vertical shutter control. For less $, you can get for example the Targus battery grip w; vert shutter, battery door compartment, extra battery side-compartment and same plastic texture and look-alike material coating.

Does not fit properly. Loses connection so pictures are lost.

I was looking for better hand held support for my Nikon and some way to have a longer battery charge. When I was told by a fellow photographer about the wonderful power grip she had purchased, I have had many events of shooting 4000 to 6000 photos without running out of battery juice or my hand cramping UP!!! Thanks

The Ansmann Power Battery Grip is a powerful and versatile accessory for the Nikon D40 camera. It replaces the standard battery source with its own built-in, rechargeable, high-capacity battery pack (non-removable). In addition, it provides a vertical grip, which makes vertical shooting as easy as horizontal shooting. The built-in rechargeable Li-Ion 3600 mAh battery eliminates the need of having to charge and carry around multiple battery clusters. The built-in battery can be used for thousands of pictures before having to be recharged.
