Well made but don't expect level panning

Something to consider before you buy; unless you drive some sort of antique vehicle then the glass in your car window probably isn't flat, more likely it curves inward at the top, and this limits the usefulness of this mount. You can clamp the Alpen mount to a curved window and level your camera (or scope) with the vertical adjustment, but you cannot then make a level pan because as you pan either left or right the lens will begin to point downward. Very annoying. It really needs an extra angle adjustment in the neck of the base to allow for the window angle. One more nit is that the mounting stud is a little too long for my Nikon compact camera and will not tighten without adding a washer although it works fine for my Canon DSLR. Other than that it seems to be well made.
