Good Value

Tripod was useless - get a stable Manfrotto 190 or 055 with a decent head - I have good equipment as a pro photographer. Overall good value for the money. You can spend a fortune on this type of equipment but for most of us this will do the trick! Its not world-class optics but is exceptional value at 399.00 Delivery process was first class.

Best avoided. Poor build. The positives are few, and do not balance out the many negatives.

Questions about this item:

gene m  Does the scope fit on camera tripods? thanks for your answers
DEAN G  Yes, no problem. It comes with a small tripod and it will attach to any standard camera tripod.
Richard L  What is the weight of the kit?
Andrew R  Specs indicate a net weight of 64oz. Weight for the full kit (tripod and carrying case) is not specified.
Stan C  I am interested in the Alpen 788 spotting scope (20-60x80) and have an old tripod that fits a scope via a hand-tightened screw that would attach to the bottom of the scope. Can this tripod be used with this scope, or would some kind of adapter be necessary?
TED R  You can use a the screw attachment on a standard camera tripod. But most camera tripods are a little too lightweight for a spotting scope. I have an ancient camera tripod that makes the scope image shake. Now looking for a sturdy tripod. Was pleasantly surprised to find how much fun it is to use the Alpen scope for star gazing
