affordable but noisy

By

This mic is ok, but not much better than the built in mic on my Vixia. In my experience it generated significant amount of static noise. it is ok for general outdoor use, but not for interviews.

Great affordable shotgun mic!

By

This product worked perfectly with my Nikon D7000. If high-pro quality results isn't a requirement, this is a perfect product for everything else. Great for On-the-GO video shoots.

Good MIC but NOT STEREO

By

from Newport News, VA  -  Experienced

I got this mic to improve my camera's audio recording, it works well, the sound is really good even in super noisy and loud conditions. However this is a MONO microphone, the audio comes out of the left channel only on a stereo setup.

Questions about this item:

Mark M  Can an audio extension cable be used on this mic to increase it distance from the video camera?
THOMAS M  Hi Mark, yes, you can use an audio cable between this mic and your camera input. The only situation I have run across where there was electrical interference with a 25 foot cable was in the studio where there was a lot of lighting, audio and electrical cables in close proximity to the cable. A shielded cable should solve that problem. I have used this mic for over 3 years consistently for lots of ENG work and it has proved to be one of the best investments for the money I have ever purchased. I work in extremely loud environments where an omnidirectional picks up too much room tone. This mic has not failed to handle every situation with clear, clean audio. If I paid $150 for this mic it would still be a good deal. I highly recommend this product.
