This is a high quality glass magnification set. Very well made. The optical clarity compared tp plastic lenses is exceptional. The brass makes this look like a traditional Victorian era magnifying set. I have seen nothing like it on the market.. Highly recommended.

On closer examination, it appears to me that the magnification is 1.5X, possible 2X, but I don't think it's 3X. I determined this by placing a measuring stick on top of the glass and then examining another measuring stick through the glass, the magnified image of 1 inch measures 1.5 - 2 inches, not three. Perhaps the method I used is not that used to establish specifications. HOWEVER, I'm still very satisfied with both items.

Both items are beautiful functional works of art. Quality glass lens appears to me as truly 3X. Nicely finished brass. I'm delighted to have found this item at such a reasonable price at ADORAMA, it's twice the price at some other sites. I finally can part with my old cheap junk scratched plastic & aluminum magnifier.
