About BaLens

Balens White Balance System...
Go from orange, blue and green-tinted photos to beautifully captured color with the baLens Cap and achieve a look that is not always possible with in-camera automatic white balance or with in-camera pre-set white balances.

Just squeeze both side tabs of this high quality baLens Cap which has deeper holes with ridges for easy mounting or removal, especially when using a lens hood.

Its center pinch-release mechanism and streamlined design help to prevent the baLens Cap from accidentally being bumped off, either while traveling or when shooting in a crowd.

So no matter how challenging the lighting, with a baLens Cap you can get better colors conveniently because the cap is already on your lens without having to carry an extra accessory!

The baLens Cap is supplied in the following sizes; 52mm, 55mm, 58mm, 62mm 67mm, 72mm and 77mm. Each baLens Cap system is comprised of the baLens Snap Cap, a Neutral color dome and a Warm color dome (is bluer in color and there is a red dot on the warm dome).

The domes are easily interchanged thanks to the bayonet retaining ring on the inside of the baLens Cap.

Questions about this item:

JAMES F  Do any of you folks use this with a camcorder (not counting DSLRs here because of format difference--no value judgment)? How is it to use, and what are its limitations? Can you point me to a helpful link? My intended use is with the Canon XA10 and, while I have had input from, say, T3i owners about what their procedure is, making the leap from that to my dedicated HD producer of video clips, isn't likely to satisfy the real ignorance I have on this. Anyone?
LEONIDES L  Yes, the BaLens would definitely work in conjunction with XA10's custom WB setting. However, it may not be as useful for videos as it is for photography. In still photos, we white balance to maintain neutral skin tone. In video, don't you need to maintain realistic lighting effects on skin tone for the shots?
JAMES F  I think your point about usefulness is well taken. It isn't that it won't work, but how much can the video viewer's eye tell the fdifference. People CAN tell of course, but the crushing judgment against the photographer who botches skintone, is not going to happen to the video maker. For the videographer it is more a matter of capturing a visual mood, and of keeping it consistent. Thus if I am weighing between WB device A and B and C, hints of difference between them are not as critical as with a photographer. Partly it is in the nature of clients themelves, partly it is in the nature of the time-frozen artifact that thus becomes more available to detailed analysis. Interesting stuff, thanks for your perspective.
