Great Plate
This plate fits great on my Canon EF 70-200mm f2/8 L lens. I also have one on my EF 100-400mm lens and 24-70 lens. It slides to help with the center of gravity. It also comes with the screw not shown.

Support for telephoto lenses
Fits perfectly onto a Nikon 70-200 lens with body attached. The extra length allows you to fine-adjust the lens plus camera combo at close to its center of gravity.

Support for telephoto lenses
I bought this longer slide-in plate to support a Nikon 70-200 plus lens extender mounted to a D700 camera. The extra length of the plate allows you to get the lens support point directly beneath the center of balance of the whole ensemble. With only the stock short tripod plate, proper balance can't be attained. With this longer plate all is rock steady.
