I bought this tripod because I almost dropped my camera and lens into a river with a tripod that released my camera too easily. This tripod has a locking latch to keep your camera where you intend for it to be. I also like the RC2 style plate that accepts a BlackRapid swivel strap connection.

I especially like how the legs can be moved to different angles.

I saw this tripod my friend had and I fell on love with it. I went and bought this combo. It is solid, well built, easily set and folded. The only downside is to get a carrying case that can fit it.

Tripod came within two weeks when I ordered it. Tripod is well built, stable and for the price! can't go wrong. The head takes a bit getting used to but other than that, its an amazing tripod, if your looking for your first tripod, this is the one.

I am quite familiar with the build quality and durability of Manfrotto products, and this tripod/head combination was exactly what I needed for my current work as a university professor documenting scientific information (specimens, landscape location, and preparing laboratory training multimedia presentations). I am using this system with a Canon EOS 7d (various lenses) for stills and video, and I have no doubt that the legs and head will stand up to years of indoor (laboratory) and field use - exactly what I needed. Kudos also to Adorama, who has what must be the most extensive and impressive inventory I have yet to find online making one-stop shopping realistic (California does not have such a photography 'superstore'…). Packing was secure, shipping was fast, and personal contact service for advice was friendly and professional all the way. A wonderful experience – Thanks!

This is my second Manfrotto. I outgrew my earlier tripod. I needed a tripod combo that can take some abuse, hold a full frame camera with lens and fit in the overhead compartment on a trans-oceanic flight. My only complaint is unlike my other Manfrotto it did not come with its own carrying case.

Carbon fiber may be lighter but this tripod is extremely solid and probably is all I will ever need unless I go pro. Versatile and very easy to use. A huge step up from the cheap tripods I have used for many years. I recommend buying an extra attachment plate as a spare. The pan head is great for general photography but probably not for video

I use this tripod with a Canon 7D. It is very stable even with a medium telephoto attached. I have no complaints about any Manfrotto product.

After 30+ years shooting with cheap tripods, I was overdue for an upgrade! After a lot of reading, I chose Manfrotto because of their reputation for quality and this particular tripod as a balance between cost and features. [...]I just spent my first day shooting with my Nikon D7000 on this Manfrotto tripod and could not be happier. Rock solid (even using a 70-300 zoom lens), well built (in Italy) and very easy to use. Quick release is well designed although I wish they included an extra plate. I like the pan head, which is simple and reliable for still photos – but might not be the best choice for following action or making movies. The switch from vertical to horizontal is painless and I look forward to using this for macro photos if spring ever comes. This is a precision pro-quality instrument – a HUGE step up from the [$] tripods that one finds everywhere. Highly recommended for the advanced amateur or pro who does not want to spend a fortune on a tripod.

I own two of these Manfrotto combos, one stays in my portrait studio, the other one is my "traveler". I use them for portrait work, weddings and night low light shots. Great piece of equipment!

This Tripod is so easy to use that it's my go to first and I have several to choose from...It's great when using a large lens attached to the camera because it locks down when tightened...I have had to attach a lens to a tripod and then the camera to another but not with this one it's so sturdy. It's very smooth to pan with and just as easy to level...I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!

This is my first tripod and I am very satisfied with the build quality. Thought it is little on heavier side, but durability and stability wins me over. I will highly recommend this tripod with the default.

I bought this tripod to supplement my much heavier and bulkier Bogen/Manfrotto 3021. It is not as tall or stable as the 3021 and that is both the good and the bad news. Stability can be improved by suspending a weighted object using the provided hook. It will prove easier to pack around on strenuous shoots. And the ability to put the center pole on the horizontal will be invaluable for macro shots of low lying plants and flowers. As usual, a well designed and manufactured item from Bogen

This is now my primary tripod. It's much sturdier than any others I have used. The head locks secure and the quick release plate locks firmly (unlike some others). some might say it's a bit heavy, and that lighter is better, but when you have a couple thousand dollars sitting on top of it, outside on a windy day, it's not really all that heavy.

I use this tripod with a canon 30D, and a 100mm Macro lens. Now I can take pictures of small objects on the ground directly overhead.
