We have tried conduit(too Heavy) We have tried PVC (Sags in the center) This is one of the items that just is what it is and nothing else works. Not recommended as a pole-vault pole, you can hurt yourself.

Our Studio has a lot of backgrounds, cloth,paper,vinyl and others. When you need a lot of these you see that the the 9' alucore should ship in a 5' and 4'section and not two 4 1/2' sections and the 12' alucore in two 6' sections. That would give us working photographers the ability to mix and match having 9' 10' and 12' cross bars. Our studio uses the 9 & 10' for backgrounds and often we need the 12' for special jobs and location work.Of course they could always make a 10' alucore but they have not as of yet.
