Manfrotto 244 Variable Friction Magic Arm with Camera Platform (#2929)

I find this very handy when I want to use two cameras to record an event. I'll attach this arm to my tripod and set up the second camera right next to the first. I'll use different lens lengths but be capturing the same angle. I also use it for some home studio shoots, on tables it's especially useful.

Write your review here. It must be at least 10 characters long. ConsiderThis Manfrotto Magic Arm is incredibly versatile and sturdy. All joints movements (including the two socket-and-ball nodes) are controlled by the round handle in the middle. I got the Manfrotto die-cast 035 Super Clamp along with the Camera platform, as I use this flexible arm for camera support more so than for lighting. The quality of material appears to be excellent. Given the multiple nodes, every possible position is easily obtained within the length of the arm (which is approximately 20 inches, including the studs). The only drawback is that there was no brochure for the Magic Arm, whereas the Super Clamp came with a brochure which included all the numbers corresponding to each single component of the clamp. Regarding the durability of the friction system (controlled by the round handle), only time will tell. However, I must say that I have Manfrotto products that are as good now as they were when I bought them, decades ago. whether you would recommend this product and what you like or dislike about it.

I bought the magic arm to allow my camera to be mounted behind a basketball bakboard to get some shots remotely. It worked flawlessly. But since having it, i have now used it to mount my speed lights in awesome positions where i couldn't get a lightstand. The options are endless with this arm, but that must be why they call it the Magic Arm.

The variable feature is very nice. Can lock into almost any position. Sturdy, solid. A great tool to have. Creates options for mounting a camera.

Used to hold speedlite and small modifiers for a tabletop studio. I like this wheel version a little better than the lever version to lock in the lights a little better. When set, these arms stay put without fail.

The friction are is really an "extra" hand when you need it. Can hold almost anything including a bedside light in a pinch.

The product is clearly well made but there are times when the elbow friction device gets easily out of whack and its difficult to get it back together. Its far too easy to break the friction elbow mechanics. You really have to be a mechanical person to get it working again.
