I use this to attach my Pocket Wizard Flex TT5s to light stands with my SB900/SB910 flash units. It is far superior than the plastic originals on the TT5s.

This attachement is a better option than the standard plastic mounts on the pocket wizard flex units. They are less apt to break with the weight of the pocket wizard and SB-900/SB-910 attached. It can be used for any standard 1/4-20 mount.

Needed to run a compact HD video cam piggy-backed on my D3100 for an outdoor action shoot. Thought this would be a good adapter for it, I thought wrong. Typical Manfrotto material and construction quality (hence the second star), it's very well made. However, the clearances don't provide a very solid or sturdy connection point. Because the base thickness is a few thousands too thin allowing for up/down wobble of a degree or two - and means that the adapter can, and will, back/slip out of the shoe with normal outdoor action shoot movement. To make a bad situation worse, the width of the square on the base is too small, not by a few thousandths, but by a few hundredths! This means that whatever you have attached will also wobble left/right by as much as 5 degrees from center - perhaps not a big deal for some accessories, but for video, this much misalignment is huge. Bottom line: For studio/portraiture it would be fine. But for outdoor/action work this will not work - you will need something with a shoe locking ring or shoe locking lever.

My brother asked me to shoot my niece's wedding out of town. I needed a portable diffused light source. The Manfretto Flash adaptor allowed me to mount a Nikon SB-28DX on a Stroboframe bracket using the Nikon SC-17 cable. I could switch from landscape to portrait in seconds, and had full balanced TTL flash capability at the touch of a button.

I had to shoot my niece's wedding out of town. I needed a portable diffused light source. The Manfrotto Flash Adaptor allowed me to mount a Nikon SB-28DX flash with a SC-17 hot shoe extension cord on a Stroboframe bracket. This setup gave me the flexibility to change from landscape to portrait mode in seconds while maintaining full balanced TTL flash flexibility.

Like the other reviewer for this product, I needed an adapter for my SB-29 so I could use the strobe off-camera on my pistol grip. This is exactly the right product to solve a problem that Nikon never should have created in the first place. It's excellent.

This is just what the doctor ordered. The problem with the Nikon unit is the 1/4-20 tripod socket. I really needed a place to park the end of my SC-28. WIth the adapter, I can use a flash bracket and remove the flash for hand directed off-camera flash. Works really well with a flash bracket to get the flash off-center to reduce the possibility of red-eye.
