I bought it as a travel tripod but it is flimsy and not much of an improvement over hand holding the camera.

DON'T PUT A DSLR ON THIS THING!!!!! Here's a little test for you: Screw the baseplate in to anything you want, then latch the baseplate on to the tripod. Then, grab the thing mounted to the baseplate and pull back toward you and see if the latch just opens right up and your device comes right out. Now, imagine picking up your tripod to move it like you would any other and your camera falls right out! I thought I did something wrong, but my buddy that was with me just bought the exact same unit and tried it with his and his pulled right out too! Now he is returning his. I, on the other hand, smashed mine on the concrete. My camera AND lens are broken and have to go in to be repaired (IF they can repair them). USE FOR LITTLE POINT & SHOOTS ONLY!!!!!

[...] After receiving it I noticed that this particular tripod was designed for point and shoot cams. It works fine with standard lenses but even has difficulty in portrait/vertical position...is not stable and gradually falls out of position. However I am please with the compact size, weight and ease of use. I would not recommend this for DSLR's.

This is an inexpensive tripod, I got it mostly because of name brand Manfrotto. I used it with consumers video camera and found it doesn't move smoothly and doesn't lock tight even on lock position

I purchased this as my first tripod after getting a Canon Rebel XSi. I knew I would be traveling soon so I wanted something small and light. This does the job pretty well. I notice it gets to be somewhat flimsy when you extend the legs all the way out. Lately I've gotten by with extending all legs but the last section (skinniest) and then moving the center rod up. This seems to be pretty stable. I've been carrying it to the office with me everyday with it in my Lowerpo CompuDaypack. It sticks out of the top but not that much.

It's very lightweight. I have used it for my Nikon D80 and a 24-120 lens and it held up ok, although the manufacturer indicates that it's really only for compact cameras.

This tripod takes up much less space and is far lighter than what I hauled around before. When you're climbing up rough terrain, every ounce less is a blessing. Easily handles up to four or five pound cameras with a minimum of space. All this and it comes with a novel ball action head.

After buying a large professional model tripod I knew I'd made a mistake. It was so heavy that I could hardly lug it around. Even the quick release shoe made the camera heavy on my neck. I knew I needed to find something more packable and I found it in this little tripod. I've had it out a couple times now and it works like a charm. It is a little light weight so you want to be a careful about placement on uneven surfaces, but other than that I don't have any complaints. I added it to my backpack and hardly felt it. It sets up quickly. The quick release shoe doesn't add any unnecessary weight to my camera and I can hike all day without feeling any ill effects. It is perfect for the hiking, camping and travel pictures I take, but probably won't work well in high winds or in moving water, as it is too lightweight. I got some great shots of a waterfall and all without any back or neck ache. I use it with a Pentax K10D and have the 70-200mm lens and didn't have any tipping problems. Definitely wouldn't hold large prime lenses though.

Very useful when it comes to portrait; light weight, compact and good height. I wish it could be a little bit more solid when i use a bigger camera. Pretty handy when i`m doing my videos too; the head rotates very smooth and steady. I like it.

We use the tripod for wedding portarits that require a steady shot with slow shutter speeds. The results with the tripod reduced the shakes

Easier to set up than traditional tri-pods. Good flexibility on non-flat surfaces.

I love to take pictures and need to use a tripod on occasion, this is a great tripod to use and it handles easily and quickly. It does a great job. It could be a little bit taller, but I am not tall so it works good for my husband and I. I would strongly recommend this tripod for everyone who needs to travel with a tripod.

The head is not so precise to positioning. The trigger lock is easy to use but at same time doesn't give you the chance to precisely lock the camera's position.

This is a great product. I use it mostly in the field and needed something compact, lightweight and sturdy. This tripod gives me exactly what I want. There is nothing better for the money. Very pleased with my purchase.

I purchased this for use as a flash stand - with the hopes of using it on my D300. The tripod is too light weight for the D300, but very portable & functional for my auxiliary flashes. It is well worth the money for lighter weight equipment & uses.

I BOUGHT THIS TRIPOD TO USE WITH MY NEW CANON G9 WHEN TRAVELLING. ITS LIGHTWEIGHT AND FITS IN CARRYON LUGGAGE. IT HOLDS THE G9 STEADY FOR PICTURES AND ALLOWS ME PAN AND TILT TO SHOOT SHORT VIDEO CLIPS WITH THE SAME CAMERA. THE HEAD IS MADE MOSTLY OF PLASTIC, BUT STAY WITHIN THE WEIGHT LIMITS AND YOU'LL BE AMAZED AT HOW FUNCTIONAL IT IS.

I use it for work and fun (corporate trainer). Used primarily with small Sony Camcorder so this tripod is perfect. This is my second Bogen-Manfrotto tripod (larger model used with digital SLR w/lenses). Love them both. The joystick ball head and locking mechanisms give great flexibility while providing stability. Also has a bubble level: nice touch. Small, lightweight, EXCELLENT tripod for the money.

This tripod is fast and easy to use. I like the part that can stay attached to my camera and snap into the tripod. Also love the ball head for ease of manipulation. Also like that you can use this to take shots just inches above the table or ground. Clearly you need to be aware of the weight limitations. At full extension the tripod is a bit shaky and I wouldn't want a heavy camera up there. A great addition to my photo equipment as it was lightweight and inexpensive and works well - very nicely designed.

I plan to use the tripod on hiking trips. It's light weight and short length when folded is a real plus. It supports my Pentax Ist and a 28 - 200 zoom lens with no problems. I especially like the bubble level. It should help greatly to keep panoramas perfectly horizontal.

Awesome Little Tripod

This little tripod was just great for my week long Europe tour. I used it with my Olympus 510. The tripod is soooo light and easy to carry. Most of the time, I was able to keep it attached to my camera when wearing the camera with the neck strap(the tripod was closed obviously). The middle shaft is threaded a few inches below the head which made its transport on the airplane in my backpack even easier. I just unscrewed the top part with the head. Its stability was fine at full height gi...

Manfrotto has taken the professional features from their best-selling products and incorporated them into the Modo to create a high-performance, ultra-compact and lightweight tripod that packs into any bag or backpack. Now, even the amateur photographer can utilize the techniques of professionals and take high quality photographs and video.
All Modo tripods feature a number of innovative design elements that come together to create a unique blend of stability, portability and ease of use. Developed with a versatile hybrid head, the Modo can be used with both digital camera and video equipment. With the touch of the safety button, the quick-release plate allows the user to easily switch between cameras and equipment, making capturing family, vacation and everyday moments simple.
When stored, the Modo can fold down to fit almost anywhere. Extremely portable, the highly compact Modo 785SHB folds to a mere 14 inches while the larger 785B is only 4.1 in. longer when collapsed, measuring 17.1 in.
The hybrid head allows the MODO to be used with either photographic or video cameras. However, while these tripods are compact, they can stand tall when needed. The compact 785SHB has a maximum height of 45 in. Towering over the 785SHB, the larger 785B is the tallest tripod in the Modo line with a maximum height of 59.2 in. All Modo tripods feature quick flip leg locks that allow the user to easily open, close and adjust them to any intermediate height.
Modo tripods not only have a high reach, but they can also get low. For low angle images, the bottom of the innovative center column is designed to twist off, and the three variable leg angles allow the tripods to reach 6.1 in. (the 785SHB model) or 6.9 in (785B model) from ground level.
As is the case with all Manfrotto tripods, the Modo was designed for quick, easy and reliable use. The black, aluminum alloy tripods feature a sleek oval leg shape, making adjusting them even easier by preventing the legs from rotating.
