Just what I wanted.

The height is perfect for me and I really like how easy it is to adjust the tripod legs. It is a little heavier than I wanted but I love all the other features.

stable, stylish, sturdy

its a great tool for me as i'm just learning with a DSLR camera. so far it's helping understand aperture and shutter speed as i can read and apply new info without holding the camera.

Like to photogrsph the moon, and other low light landscape types of scenes, and this was just the what I needed to stablize my shots and allow longer exposures.

Strong tripod

The only thing i did not like about the kit was the ball head design. The friction release to allow it to pivot is aparently linked to the ball release. I do not like this, as it is complicated to use it for panoramic photos.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  is this plate quick release? sorry i couldn't find it in the info but it looks like it is quick release, i'm new to this whole tripod thing
BEVERLY G  Yes, very quick release and snaps back in place with a snap! The first time I used it I had a hard time releasing. After that, smooth as silk!
Max E  One additional question. As I stated, I have a Nikon D5100 but it has an 18-200 lens which increases the weight. How sturdy is this for this type of camera/lens? Is there any issue with "creep"? Thanks
GEORGE R  This tripod with the ball head mount is rated for 11 pounds so I don't see why you would have a problem with creep. I have not experienced any problem like that . I am shooting with a D80 and usually with the 18-200 lens, so my weight is less, but not drastically so.
Shopper  Is the ball head included with this tripod a 496RC2? I did not see any information about it.
TREY A  That it is. I have loved my tripod. Glad I went with the Manfrotto.
