I am not satisfied with the quality of the product: Bush Hawk Shoulder Mount with Double Handle, BH 320D Pro Kit. Right out of the box cable, to trigger camera, fall apart, after I plugged it in as intended. In regards to the trigger button, I would say it doesn't have such a notion as "press button halfway to focus". That means, that you have to actually take a shot and then it might focus eventually. Literally, you don't have control of your camera focusing with this trigger. The shoulder strap attachments are made of plastic and I wouldn't rely on their durability to carry on my shoulder, for example, my Canon EF 300 mm 2.8 IS lens attached to Canon 1D Mark IV. Taking into consideration the materials, craftsmanship, functionality of the Bush Hawk Shoulder Mount with Double Handle, BH 320D Pro Kit I would say it was way overpriced at [$] I paid for. The price they are asking now ([$]) is totally ridicules and absolute rip-off. I am returning this item and I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. If you need a shoulder mount there are better alternatives you can find and buy. Don't buy this item and you wouldn't sacrifice your camera functionality.

I have used a Bush Hawk for several years and would not be without it. I normally use a Canon Mk III with a 400mm L on the unit .I stopped using a monopod and tripod because of the Bush Hawk. You have to adjust the rig for your body and camera. I have my camera mounted with a quick release at an angle for my eye and for where I hold the unit to my shoulder or chest. I rotate the lens mount for proper horizontal level. After you have the unit adjusted for your camera and lens you will be amazed at how improved your in flight shots are. Use the same basic techniques as you would shooting a target rifle and it will be better than a static tripod since you can move with it. I replaced the supplied sling with a rifle sling and I carry it over my shoulder with no problem. Once adjusted it is a wonderful addition to your camera gear.

It's ok for times when you can't use a tripod/monopod. It really excels with flight photography where mobility is required. The extras in the kit like the window clamp, cord box, carrying case, shoulder strap and shoulder pad are kind of worthless for me. The shoulder strap is too short if you want to carry your camera cross shoulder like a bandoleer for increased stability and the shoulder pad keeps coming off the stock. But for the same cost of the stock, camera release and second handle - I guess the free extras in the kit make it ok. The shoulder strap attachments also make the camera hang upside down... I would recommend this with lots of caveats and a "try it first before you buy it" disclaimer.

This is great for taking photographs of birds in flight to and from the nesting areas. It gives greater stability in hand holding telephoto lense setups and improves tracking them in flight.
