The Bescor LED-40 is an on-camera, daylight balanced LED light that provides the equivalent of 40W of illumination. Suitable for both video and DSLR cameras, the LED-40 offers a wide beam that reaches over 20 feet and runs on standard alkaline or NiMH AAA batteries (housed in an easy-access internal battery compartment). With its universal shoe mount and included side arm bracket, this bright, compact light can also be mounted to one side or on a stand, for off-axis illumination.
Amazing Bright light. Easy to hand hold off camera as probably the best use of it. Reflectors, bounce, and whatever, it lasts a reasonably long time on the batteries.
I really hate using the flash light in events at night time which seems to disturb most peopel attending. However, I found this light to be both helpful with shooting and somewhat less distracting for the spectators. It definitely helps with the pictures/videos, and fits better in my pocket than any of the shoe mount flash lights. Handy tool to keep in the bag.
I own a Panasonic GH2 with 14/140 lens, which isn't great in low light. I use the led for situations where a little extra light is needed. On auto white balance the colors and overall exposure come out just fine.
I use the light on camera for taking videos and on monopod for hiking in the dark.
The lights are small and portable and last about 1.5 hours on a good set of 3 AAA batteries. I bought five and one did when they arrived. They were drop shipped from the vendor, I have still not been able to get a replacement, so beware that if they need repair you may be out of luck.
Great video light for palm sized SD card cams for vacation travel. Use AA size batteries.
I use this product with both my DSLR camera and my Sony Camcorder and it works really great. This is so much better than the infrared that comes with the camera and the brightness is amazing. You can pretty much light up an entire room with this light. The light comes with a little extender so that it can be further away from the camera shoe which is really useful. I've used it outdoors and indoors. Outdoors it is useful to have the subject you are taking a picture of look into the light so that their eye pupils become smaller and reveal more of their natural eye color. Overall, I've had some great experience with this.
