About Bushnell 10x42 Roof Prism

The Bushnell Elite 10x42mm Binocular boasts fluoride ED lenses with XTR lens coating technology - this remarkable optical refinement delivers an outstanding level of light transmission - up to 97% for each lens and up to 90% for the entire optical system.

To ensure crystal clear viewing at all times - the Elite's ED lenses also benefit from Bushnell's water-repellent RainGuard HD coating - this proprietary technology minimizes external lens fogging and it also causes moisture build-up from rain and condensation to bead up into fine droplets for enhanced viewing capability in rain, snow, sleet and dynamic climates.

The Elite 10x42 features a rugged housing that is constructed from a lightweight yet durable magnesium alloy - magnesium offers a significant reduction in weight along with enhanced rigidity. The internal chamber is filled with bone-dry nitrogen and o-ring sealed for lasting all-weather performance. The housing's exterior sports a rubber armoring along with a resilient powder-coat finish for a no-slip grip and added protection against abrasions, bumps and rough handling.

Expensive looking junk

Looks expensive. Feels expensive. Look through it and you might as well be looking through two coke bottle bottoms.

I Can See Clearly Now

By

from Baltimore, MD  -  Casual/ Recreational

Needed to have something that was lightweight and compact to use when birding. Since we are near the water a lot, also wanted something that was water proof and fog proof. The Bushnell 10x42 H2O fit the job. Can't wait to get a second pair.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  the model is the 620142ED?
DAVID H  Yes, the model is No. 620142ED. I recommend the 8 power binoculars for general bird watching and woodland birding. The 10X42 binoculars are nice for viewing waterfowl and migrating hawks, but have a very shallow depth of focus that makes the 10X42 less useful for locating birds in dense foliage. The wider field of view on the 8 power binoculars is also an advantage for general birding. The 10 power binoculars are ideal as a second pair of binoculars for advanced birders. If possible try the binoculars before buying a pair: the eye cups screw out for use when not wearing glasses, but the eye cups don't have any "clicks" or stops to hold them in place. The slightest pressure against the eye cups causes them to screw back in. Oddly, even lower end binoculars have eye cups with stops. The price is a bargain for the optical quality, but the eye cups that don't stay in place are very annoying. The straps are also oddly long. I appreciate that the binoculars are waterproof and do not fog up in damp conditions. Overall, a strong value for serious binoculars; a little less than Swarovski specs for 1/4 to 1/5 the price. If your life revolves around birding you might find the Swaro's to be worth the additional cost.
Walter P  Are these the newest version of the Bushnell Elite 10x42 Elite Binoculars or are they the Bushnell Elite E2 10x42 binoculars? Please reply a.s.a.p.
