About Burris Optics FastFire II

FastFire II Red Dot Reflex Sight:
• The FastFire dramatically increases speed and accuracy. It simplifies the act of aiming, eliminating the need to focus on and align the front sight, rear sight and target. With the FastFire, the aiming red dot and target are always in focus and properly aligned for the ultimate in accuracy.
• The FastFire II provides the only fully waterproof unit in its product category.
• The FastFire sight is very small, mounts very low, and weighs a mere 1.6 ounces. And it has repeatedly proven it's toughness on the slides of high power semi-autos, on slug guns, on shotguns and on high power rifles.
• The FastFire housing is made of metal for strength and durability. It's lenses are precision ground and polished to exacting geometries to virtually eliminate parallax and to provide a very clear crisp sight picture. It is fully windage and elevation adjustable and lockable. It features both an on/off switch and a light sensor that automatically adjusts the dot's brightness to the available light. The included plastic hood covers the light sensor and puts the unit in sleep mode when the on/off switch is set to "on".
• FastFire is powered by a lithium CR2032 battery, which is commonly available andlong lasting because of the highly efficient electronics and the battery-saver mode. A battery can last as long as five years.
• The Picatinny Mount allows mounting on just about any rifle. Special bases are available for the most common firearms.

I love this red dot

It's light, target acquisition is natural, accurate, and best of all, Burris replaced the first one about a year ago because it wasn't holding zero. Their service was fantastic! They replaced it, and the new one has held zero ever since.

Love it

Only one downside, the red dot becomes a little harder to see in bright conditions. It was hard for me to find it at all at first, but after a little practice I can pull up on target very quickly. I love it

I like it alot only issue I have is when I need to change out the battery I may have to do a little tweaking on sighting it in. I think that is fixed with the fast fire III

Good for the money

This is a nice red dot sight. I was a little weary of spending [$] on a sight for my .22, but I have since realized it was well worth it. There are limited alternatives for reflex sights with such a form factor. The only other options are cheap, generic knock-off lookalikes that always have major defects, or Trijicon in which you are likely to have more money wrapped up in your optics than your gun. It includes everything that you will need. The Fastfire II is not the easiest sight to adjust because the adjustment screws also have lock screws that can change your POI when tightened after any adjustment. Other than that, the sight seems well made. Its precision and accuracy exceed that required of even target pistols. The sight seems to do a decent job of automatically adjusting the dot brightness in most lighting conditions. It isn't overwhelming in low light but it is still very visible on a sunny day. The included weaver/picatinny base is nicely machined and should precisely clamp onto any standard rail. However, it will NOT fit factory Browning Buckmark "Weaver" rails without some modification. Apparently, the geniuses at Browning decided to machine the slots of the scope rail to a much narrower width than the standard Weaver dimension. Therefore, the crossbolt of the FastFire's base will hang up on these slots and prevent it from properly securing to the rail. Obviously, this is not the fault of Burris and I can't hold that against their product. Fortunately, this totally unnecessary problem created by Browning can be overcome with a few common hand tools: GENTLY tap the bolt out of the base with a soft-faced hammer. Then CAREFULLY and EVENLY file down the two opposing flats on the bolt until the bolt is narrow enough to fit. Tap it back into the base, making sure those flats are oriented properly. Voila, you can now enjoy using the FastFire II on your Buckmark.
