This is a great UV filter. The XS-Pro coating is really nice. Fingerprints rarely stick to it, and water droplets can easily be blown off with an air blower. B+W makes some of the best optics. However, I had to switch for a non-XS-Pro filter, because I love layering a polarizer on top of it with my Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 lens... I don't know if it is because the filters in the B+W lineup is made of different materials or what, but when I use 2 different filters from different lineups, they don't stick and jam together... When I put an XS-Pro UV filter and an XS-Pro Polarizer filter together, they'll stick and jam and you will have a ton of trouble getting them apart (don't ask me how I know). So great filter, but pay attention if you layer your filters.

Overall, it?s a good product to buy. The only thing is the shipping is little bit slow, but it?s free shipping.

Great. Does as intended. Do the price range, it?s not completely transparent. Either pay up for the good stuff or just don?t use a filter (at risk of your front element).

The company that produces the B&W filters has an interesting history (go to their website and read about the company). The glass used in their filters is of very high quality and is made at their factory in Germany. The rings are made of brass so the threads are less likely to gall or get stuck. I purchased their 72mm UV filter and I have them for two other of my lenses. They have what is referred to as MRC (multi resistant) coating and a "nano" coating which causes spherical beading. They perform very well and the price is very reasonable. Excellent overall quality. Highly recommended.

I've been using B+W filters for years, fantastic quality. A bit pricey, but worth it. Thin frame, reduces vignetting possibility with ultra-wide angle lenses.

This is an outstanding piece of glass--when you buy an expensive lens, you don't want to go cheap on the filters! The Nano version is B+W's low-profile MRC, and it's very very low profile, and it looks about half as thick as a normal B+W circular filer. So this is perfect for those ultra-wide angle lenses.

The filter was exactly what I was looking for and at a very reasonable price. The filter is mounted in a very thin mount making it ideal for wide angle lenses and the glass is crystal clear. I would recommend this filter to anyone looking for a UV filter.

You spend extra to get fast glass for your best images, so you need the best lens protection for that glass. Lenses are big bucks a quality filter is inexpensive protection for that glass.

A very high quality UV blocking filter for my Canon EOS R mirrorless, digital camera. I bought this filter because it has a very good, hard, anti-reflection coating and it was made by Schneider Kreuznach, a very high quality optics company. The quality of the glass and its fabrication (surface flatness and parallel spec) should be excellent.

Great Lens Protector! Love that it is made of quality glass, has a brass ring that won't get stuck, and has MRC nano-coating for easy cleaning!
Great filter with strong reputation
By Mike E.
You can never go wrong with a B+W filter in my experience. I bought this clear UV filter to protect my Sony 10-18mm lens from the elements. The Nano coating makes it a breeze to clean the filter with a microfiber cloth with no streaking like some filters do. I prefer the brass rings used by B+W, because they don't stick to the lens threads like aluminum rings can. As they say, spend a little more and cry once, buy cheap and cry every time you use it.
This UV Filter blocks the invisible UV component of light from the sky, which can cause blur and to which many color films react with a blue cast. These filters should be called UV-Blocking Filters, because there are filters for technical applications that pass UV radiation and block all the other wavelengths. Nevertheless, the short term "UV Filter" has become established among photographers.
UV Filters are ideal for photography in high altitudes (in the mountains), by the sea and in regions with very clean air. The pictures gain brilliance and disturbing blue casts are avoided.
Because the glass is colorless, color rendition is not altered, aside from the elimination of the unwanted blue cast, and no increase in exposure is required. That makes a UV Filter very suitable as protection of the front element of the taking lens against dust, flying sand, sea water spray and the like, and it can be kept on the lens at all times. It is recommended for analog color and black-and-white as well as digital photography.
B+W XS-PRO Digital Filter Series .
All XS-Pro filters employ a newly developed mounting ring that is especially suited for SLRs with wide angle and zoom lenses. The extremely thin design prevents the mounting ring from vignetting in even the widest shots. B+W XS-Pro Digital Filters have front threads for mounting additional accessories such as filters, screw on shades and lens covers. XS-Pro filter rings are made of brass and are matt black to prevent reflections.
Schneider's Proprietary MRC Coating
MRC refers to the unique Multi Resistant Coating developed by Schneider-Kreuznach, which comes as standard on B+W XS-Pro Digital Filters. It provides perfect anti-reflection, brilliant colors and high contrast. Only Schneider lenses and B+W filters are protected by this extremely resistant multi-layer broadband coating (eight layers on both sides). In addition, the scratch-resistant, water- and dirt- repellent outer layer makes it easier to clean the glass surface. Due to its low residual reflection (0.5%) MRC prevents ghosting or double images, which can be caused by return reflections from sensors.
Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) with Nano Technology
The nano coating is an outer layer of protection that comes standard with all XS-Pro Digital MRC filters. The nanotechnology based characteristic (lotus effect) produces a better beading effect with water making the cleaning of this filter even simpler and faster than ever before. MRC nano has an improved outer (8th) layer over regular MRC
This filter uses our XS-Pro Digital mount which is especially suited for DSLRs with wide angle and zoom lenses. It has a front thread for additional accessories such as lens caps or hoods. All XS-Pro Digital mounts are made of brass and are matte black to prevent reflections.
